For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils Review · 3:45pm Mar 23rd, 2014
Huh, A Sweetie Belle episode? Well, this one will probably be similar to that other one.
ONE VIEWING LATER
Oh...My...Gosh. THAT WAS THE BEST EPISODE EVER!!!
So, the episode starts with Rarity freaking out about a set of dresses she needs to make for Sapphire Shores. Sweetie Belle tries to help but messes everything up. She also tells Rarity that the CMC needs their costumes remade the next night for their play. Rarity nervously agrees and then races against the clock.
At the play Rarity barely makes it and the CMC perform the show. However, no one remembered anything other than the dresses and Sweetie Belle believes Rarity stole the spotlight once again. She storms home, confronts her sister and goes to bed. Sweetie Belle wants revenge too and so she removes a thread from the main headdress of Sapphires costume. She then dreams about Rarity ruining an awards show for her and that Rarity was a creeping cloud thing. However, HARK! (Or dude look over there) Princess Luna comes to save Sweetie Belle. Then the two have the most amazingly brief and powerful conversation ever.
Sweetie Belle: Yeah, probably dreaming.
Luna: I understand what you are going through Sweetie Belle, I too have a sister who often shines more brightly than me; and with this I have struggled.
Wow...that's a connection. Why would I even bother with the rest of the episode. Just end with that.
So anyways, Luna shows Sweetie Belle that Rarity never meant to hurt her. Plus in a very Christmas Carol aspect, shows the future for Rarity if Sweetie Belle messes up the headdress. There were even dolphins. Okay? So Sweetie hurries to Canterlot, saves the Headress, even sees Luna in the real world and everyone is happy. We even learn that Sapphire Shore's lucky animal is a dolphin, and that they "swim with her in her dreams." So Luna can show other people dreams to someone while their dreaming. Wow, you learn something every day.
This episode was amazing. I can't even formulate words on how good it was. The characters were like-able and Luna once again proved that she was the better and cooler sister. The story was unlike anything seen in MLP. The references, the plot twists, the foreshadowing; all of it, and I could never know what was going to happen. That takes talent. The dream visuals were zany but controlled which is a delicate balance. The conclusion between Rarity and Sweetie Belle was sentimental and it was cool that Luna helped Sweetie Belle. I think that the conclusion was better than the Sister Hooves Social. The humor was there, but I didn't count it for this episode since it was definitely more serious. Plus, I really wanted this to get as the Game Grumps said: "TENHOTTATEN"
Characters: 9/10
Story: 10/10
Visuals: 10/10
Conclusion: 9/10
Overall: 10/10
I loved this episode, and remember 10/10 doesn't mean a perfect episode, it means an episode that I deem worthy of being one of the greats.
