so lotta things going on here that are... disappointing to say the least... so I'll just say it... JanAnimations was shut down by hasbro... yep that happened... while I am saddened i don't think its hitting me as hard as it could because i have button mash adv., don't mine at night, bar buddies, and picture perfect pony backed up, but still DAMN hasbro, ya really had to go after jan... (who has admitted after pony rock anthem and possibly another BMA that hes done with pony stuff to do his own thing, REALLY?!?)

on top of that i keep getting a 80010514 error on my PS3, all i wanna do is play demon souls... =(

not to mention with this last year being wavering for me, this season kinda tanking, and the recent events, I'm not 100% sure I'm much into it all anymore. its good, i loved it, I'm just not sure... ='(

i think everything is kinda hitting me again sadly... most times I'm happy with everything around me but little things are starting to get me down and yes I'm kinda venting here but i really just wish i had someone who cared on a deep level to help me out of funks like what I'm starting to go into again... *sigh* anyway back to doing nothing i guess...

I know the feeling. Just not with this fandom. I think everyone experiences a burn-out at some point, and since most people are only involved in communities for "themselves" - i.e. to get their own stories and art noticed - they tend to regard anyone with a complaint as some kind of inferior or idiot.

Shame that Hasbro are doing this, also; they are entitled to protect their interests, of course, but it strikes me as so counterproductive to go after fans in this way, especially considering that their ultimately promoting the show to more people who may simply regard it as kiddie nonsense. :rainbowderp:

But I don't think this season has "tanked" at all. It's had some of the stronger episodes, including some personal favourites (Bats, Pinkie Pride, Maud Pie, amongst others). :pinkiehappy:

1976886 yea, but for me I've been in this for a good... well heck its almost been 3 years, July 26th 2011. but its weird, in most cases i am just done with whatever it was until it sparks again WAY later but as for this fandom and the show its almost bi-polar with how fast it happens... one moment I'm over it completely but then someone produces something SO amazing it just brings me back for some reason (talking music, HUGE music person here). yea, i dislike when some people do it but i can't say 100% that I've never thought about it sadly... in the end though i just do things for fun, stay true to me :twilightsheepish:

this is true... besides taking down fighting is magic, there was a tribute version, taking down JA, thats one of HOW MANY animators we have! and more just keep cropping up *shrug* just saying.... its almost like weeds (hate to use that analogy but) in most cases it will just continue to spread and spread without stop. only thing that would kill it is for the show to end and even THEN there would still be people.

eh, i guess "tanked" was a bit to hard, IMO they have taken quite a few "wrong turns" so to speak. by no means do i HATE season 4, it just feels... off to me. also pinkie pride might have just beaten out winter wrap up as my favorite episode over all (and winter wrap up is what actually got me INTO the show 100%) not to mention it was a pinkie episode, normally i don't like her all that much but she has been written VERY well this season, all of the episode i can actually go back and enjoy focus on her for some reason :trollestia:

1978334 Well, it's only been about six months or so for me; I just started watching the show when I noticed it on Netflix, and it took about half a season before I got over the whole "watching it ironically" thing and genuinely started loving it. I hope I never get to the point where I become tired or jaded of it, but if they keep producing episodes of the kind of quality that they do (gotta say, they do have a rather impressive strike rate, with only one or two episodes per season being bad enough that I wouldn't consider rewatching them). Plus, the fans tend to be a lot nicer, though there are the occasional jerks.

I've been thinking about the show's end quite a bit; we know it's been renewed for at least one more season, but beyond that ... who knows? I'm trying to think what Hasbro's approach will be for G5. I don't think they can consider going back to the way things were, but equally, if they try to replicate the formula of FiM too much people will just call it a rip-off. I dunno if the MLP fandom is one of those that will endure through the ages like Star Trek or Doctor Who; I hope so, of course, but only time will tell.

Sorry, didn't mean for that to get maudlin there. :twilightblush:

Can you give me examples of what you think is off? To me, the only real misfire has probably been It Ain't Easy Being Breezies (mostly because, despite being cute, the Breezies are rather annoying, pathetic creatures).

I like Pinkie Pie a lot (probably my second favourite, after Fluttershy), but her behaviour in Filli Vanilli DID go a bit too far. I think there's a point where you can no longer say 'It's just Pinkie being Pinkie'. :unsuresweetie:

1978647 Well for me it was “huh, what in the HELL is all the fuss about” and I watched the first episode and was like “huh, well dang it’s a cliffhanger and I wanna get the full experience, not to mention that pink and yellow one is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen” so I watched and from episode 1 until episode 10 I thought I was crazy because I’m a guy and was LOVING this “girly” show (still set in those stereotypes)! By episode 11‘s musical number winter wrap up I was 100% hooked! I got lucky because season 1 had JUST finished so I was able to marathon the show all the way through 1 sitting (and I did the same the next day haha XD ) thought now I’ve kinda gotten to the point that I don’t really go back and watch as avidly as I did *shrug*. Yea it rings kinda true the meme that fly’s about saying “come for the show, stay for the fandom” cause DANG!

Yea I’m not sure what they are going to do after G4 goes I mean… how could you top such a cultural phenomenon! I know it’ll last (the fandom) just won’t be a huge as it was IMO, I mean look at all the content spewed out over the course of 3 1/2 years (even being a part of it it STILL baffles me!)

For me its things like… shoehorning all the mane 6 into an episode where it could only truly use 2-3 of them at a time. Twilight being a princess and being so easily swayed by her friends to turn on flutters in “bats” and not even being able to get a cab, she is a PRINCESS! Just things here and there, characters out of line, ect so on =3

That’s exactly what I had said about her behavior in that episode as well, just off…

1984568 I'd seen some clips here and there of various memes that had become popular, but until it showed up on Netflix, I'd just never taken the time to sit down and watch it. I guess I was concerned that my reaction would be one of, "Well, this is fine ... for a kids' show." I've never been so happy to be wrong, though. I never once thought it was "sad" or "weird" to like a girly show. I don't think it's something Lauren Faust gets enough praise for; while she may not have set out to make MLP popular with guys, she still tried to make the best show possible within Hasbro's confines, and she created something that turned out to be fantastic entertainment. Once I got through the three seasons on Netflix, the show was about halfway through season four, so I was able to catch up to everything within a few weeks.

I do hate waiting each week for new episodes, but it's worth it.

It is one of the better fandoms, but it still has a tiny minority that show up the rest, sadly.

What worries me is that it's the "hardcore" element that tends to stay once a show is off the air (Doctor Who, Star Trek, etc), and they become even more vociferous. I'd like the show to continue in some form (maybe IDW could do an ongoing thing?) because I can't imagine it just dying.

That is irksome, yes, but I get the feeling that they want those ponies on screen as much as possible (for Hasbro's profits, if nothing else), and at least it never feels perfunctory (they're just there for the sake of being there), they do have something to contribute.

Yeah, that really annoyed me about Bats!, and it's pretty much the reason I wrote The Nightmare originally.

Still, overall, it's been pretty good.
