I'm a random guy that claims to know how to write. I'm constantly being proven wrong.

So my friend and Dungeon Master of my current D&D game made Magic: the Gathering cards of our level 4 selves. · 3:47am Mar 19th, 2014

The quotes come from what he thinks is either the most notable, most memorable, or the funniest thing we've said in the campaign so far.

This last one is my character.

I must say, I always imagined you as a snake-lady. Or a Lamia if you want to get fancy

Now if only I remembered how to play Magic, I might know what those words meant.

1937207 Reach means it can block flying creatures as if it had flying.

Though considering my range is 15' (as opposed to a normal character's 5'), I'm surprised he didn't give me first strike too.

snake knight huh are you some kind of yuan ti?

1937467 Actually, it's one of those obscure races. It's a Sthein from the book Bastards and Bloodlines.

1937467 Also wanna point out that the DM and I took out the Alternate Form ability to lower the LA by 1

Ah I see it looks like it must have come from a Forgotten Realms book from the font. Though I am slightly confused ith your reach range. 15 feet is an odd number. You have natural 10 foot reach and if you wield a reach weapon I think you are supposed to double your reach or am I forgetting old 3e rules again?

good idea as +4 LA is nasty as all get out. Are you playing with LA buy off as well?

1937493 ... Holy fuck... my... my character is broken...

1937497 I have no idea. Have to ask the DM. I don't even understand how those rules work, or how they help :rainbowlaugh:

1937400
Filthy pretend Yuan-Ti scum.

1938805 Read the comments fool. I already posted that it isn't a yaun-ti :twilightsheepish:

Just checked again and I recalled correctly your reach should double if you have a reach weapon. So if you have a natural 10 foot reach for being a large creature and you wield a spiked chain (which I recommend by the way) you will have a 20 foot reach. If you have combat reflexes then you can make attacks of opportunity in a grid of up to 4 squares away.

Combine that with all the ways to get off opportunity attacks such as robillars gambit (allows you to attack enemies that attack you) and special attacks like stand still (makes enemies unable to escape you) you can make a character that is almost inescapable and deadly. With the right feats enemies can't do anything without getting smacked for an AoO.

Looking at the reacial stuff again are you large sized when you you can wield a weapon or can you only do that while in medium sized humanoid form? Also if you count as a humanoid enlarge person helps because it will greatly increase your reach some more.

1940054 Lot of info here, so I'll hit on it all in quasi bullet points.

- Yeah, as soon as you said that, I went into a flurry of looking up shit and shit. When I found out (use a spiked chain, duh), I required a change of pants because of how ridiculous it was

- I indeed am large sized, remember, I don't have the alternate form ability. That said, I am NOT like a centaur, where I only wield medium sized weapons, despite my size. I'm still a large sized creature will all the abilities and stat changes of one.

- That was the plan. I was going to the route of LA3/Knight4/Fighter2/Crusader11 (assuming no buyoff). The knight 4 was to get the extra HP that I was losing from the LA (d12 op) but mostly because of the Test of Mettle ability (sure, it'll fall off later as the DC doesn't scale, but earlier it'll be pretty good). I'm then going the standard 2 level dip of fighter that a lot of people do. I'm then going to go Crusader for the maneuvers and stances. The combo I'm mostly looking at is:

1) 20' Radius range
2) Combat Reflexes Feat (with a 15 Dex before magic)
3) Stand Still for the reasons you gave
4) Thicket of Blades so that whenever that make any sort of movement (even 5-foot step), AoO. AKA: every time they try to move at all, they lose all actions.

Add in the maneuver Defensive Rebuke (any enemies I attack that round suffer AoO from me until my next turn) and it's pretty silly. I don't know if I'll be able to take Robilar's Gambit (I will have to take it at 15th level) in time to be useful, but it's definitely on the list.
