It's the timing, that's all. · 11:17pm Mar 12th, 2014

Action: post start of new story, one which has the 'Human' tag attached.

Event: drop three followers in about fifty minutes.

Coincidence...?

If i could follow you more than once I would.

As of this writing, the story only has two downvotes. I would think that if someone was so epically butthurt as to unfollow you over the tags on a story, they would downvote that story as well, so I think there's pretty solid evidence that something unrelated is going on.

Whatever that is. :derpyderp1:

Strange thing. When I opened the story it had 8 up, 2 down. When I came back and read the story it had 41 up and 2 down. So it seems like 2 followers did take offense, but no one else.

John Perry Gave it a Favorable Review:

A Horse Called Sunbutt by Estee

What I see: There are many reasons to go into the West. Abandonment of things best left behind is high on the list, right next to the seeking of something important. Something worth any amount of risk or sacrifice.

In June of 1867, along the southern border of the Idaho Territory, an abandoned, wounded traveler, his search and life at risk, is lucky enough to stumble across a decidedly singular horse. One who is also searching for something important, something where no amount of sacrifice or risk could ever be too much.

Man and mare will travel together for a time. And if they're lucky enough to survive the experience, they might just find what they're looking for.

Judging by its cover: Huh. Historical drama with ponies? Alright, I’m intrigued.

Thoughts coming out: This one was very interesting. Granted, the execution could have used a little work; a proofreader’s touch might have caught some of the minor mistakes here. But the premise is actually handled quite well. It’s an intriguing concept, and I’m actually curious to see more.

Who would like this: I’d recommend this one. It’s not perfect, but it’s a rare instance of a human pony fic that actually makes something interesting out of its premise.

A lot of people have a knee-jerk negative reaction to the Human tag, because it tends to mean HiE stories, and the vast majority of those are crap. But this isn't one (and to be honest, I'd trust you to write a good HiE story, too), this is HoE story, or "Horse on Earth". :scootangel:

Not a coincidence. Human is a trigger word in this fandom for a very good reason: the absolute majority of human fics are beyond terrible. I do not deny that there probably are a couple decent HiE fics but I wouldn't blame someone for not giving a HiE story the benefit of the doubt.

Life is too precious and short to waste if searching for that one mythical good HiE story.

Dropping a follow seems like a pretty extreme reaction. The authors I follow don't always write stories that match my tastes, but I started following them because they often do. One story you don't care for is hardly a trend.

1922951 And yet I've found several, and I used to avoid Human like the plague. Now I sort them into BiE (which I still don't read) and HiE (which I'll check out if the premise sounds interesting).
