Taking a forced break · 8:01pm Mar 12th, 2014
Wherein I actually try to write sometimes.
Shocking, I know.
Also, I fucking love my Kindle and will cut a bitch over it omg I am going to marry it. So if you have one and wish to do lending, I'm there.
Also, have a Kik, so if you have one message me your name and I'll message mine back (it's not MidnightDancer or Squigglz, something entirely different)
Also my IT classes continue apace and I'm doing quite well, though I can't stand my classmates that are on my learning team because they are, frankly, rather stupid. I'd rant more about it but I've no idea who actually both reads this AND studies IT.
I need sleep.
Oh, and Best Child made a poster for the 100th day of school that is covered in 100 googly eyes. Almost went with black posterboard for the shoggoth vibe, but remembered its primary audience was very small children.
*Dreams being shattered* Damn
>Is planning on studying at an IT sometime in the future
WELP
pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
those poor children. ohwaitthatsrightyourenotdoingblackposterboard.
1920321 Pretty sure you were behind like three guys already.
That sounded better in my head I'm so sorry
Wait, so you're taking a break...to write? Or taking a break from writing? Also, I agree on marrying Kindles.
1920432 TO write :)
1920446
Well great, then!
Awesome. Been missing me some good Dancerfics. If you ever want to finish that collab we were working on before the whole shitstorm of the last like five months or so, lemme know.
1920339
Three? I would have only thought one, honestly.
Call me a drooling, neo-luddite heretic, but I do not like Kindles. I hate the fact that the Kindle is less "pay to purchase content you now own" and more "pay for access to the content that Amazon graciously deigns to provide"; access that they can revoke if a company makes a big enough fuss about the copyright ownership. Granted, not every e-text has that draconian DRM mashed into it, and it is possible to (currently) to load content outside of Amazon's overwatch, but the very fact that the ability to remotely revoke books even exists both bothers and disturbs me.
Oh? Juicy gossip? Now you have piqued my curiosity.
If my own IT school experiences were anything to go by you must have some proper mad stories about your group. (Me? I was the extrovert with the pretty(er) face; I stared at the other person's shoes when I spoke to them so I got all the speaking roles).
Also, given the IT classes and your hobby you have blogged about, I am disappointed no one has made a SOAP joke/pun yet.
{TERRIFIED LAUGHTER intensifies}
But skype maybe pls
also be brave and all that, if you can work that into your writing this because feels dancah

1921269 An excerpt:
*Context is that we're working on a large, overreaching class project that's worth a good percentage of our grade, and is due in Week 5. We are in Week 2, currently. Project is about identifying an information system (important) that will help a struggling virtual business (as in, not a real one, but it's mocked up like one)*
Me: Right, okay, I think they'd benefit from a data warehouse the most. They already have ERP in place, the issue is their data being all over the place, not accessible, and generally disorganized.
Dude: LOL BUT WHAT ABOUT CLOUD COMPUTING? DUH. BOOM, DONE.
Me: That's a technology, not an information system, as it were.
Dude: ...
Finally had to drag the instructor in to settle it.
On the upside, this particular gentleman is the only other group member that was willing to help me until I managed to do whatever it is I do that makes people follow me and I got one other on board.
1922195 Work what into my writing? Be brave? Because I totally could. Idea germinating.
1922649 Huzzah!
1921269 also dammit, now you have me wanting to make SOAP soap. Like with little cutouts of various protocols embedded in the soap.
I have been there. I have so been there. I'm a junior, and one of my classmates can't do basic algebra.

*twitch* *twitch*
At $WORK, my team and I are usually the unfortunate sods that have to deal with the fallout of rubbish data like that. If I start foaming at the mouth and incoherently muttering like a homeless nutter, just stand me in a secluded corner in a quiet room; I will usually come around after an hour or so once the red mist clears.
One of Significant Other's mates has a quote about cloud computing I really love:
"All the benefits and drawbacks of cloud computing can be concisely explained by replacing 'the Cloud' with the phrase 'someone else's computer'."
1922767
Heh heh.
If you go that route, may I humbly suggest having a 3 part SOAP soap?
1. Part 1 - On the top of the box/wrapper thingamungie the soap comes in print the following:
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheSudsySquirrel">
Obviously the bottom of the box/wrapper will have </soap:Envelope>
2. Part 2 - Make the top 5th or so of the bar a separate colour (like the "Smile Smile Smile" bars). This will be the <soap:Header></soap:Header>
3. Part 3 - The rest of the bar is the message body:
<soap:Message>
<s:Ingredient_1>palm oil</s:Ingredient_1>
<s:Ingredient_2>coconut oil</s:Ingredient_2>
<s:Ingredient_3>rice bran oil</s:Ingredient_3>
<s:Ingredient_4>soybean oil</s:Ingredient_4>
<s:Ingredient_5>castor oil</s:Ingredient_5>
<s:Ingredient_6>fragrance</s:Ingredient_6>
<s:Ingredient_7>skin safe mica</s:Ingredient_7>
<s:Ingredient_8>skin safe oxide</s:Ingredient_8>
</soap:Message>
There you have it: SOAP soap!
This is probably horribly impractical with a dreadfully geeky niche appeal to boot, but deliciously barmy and amusing nonetheless.
1924135 Now, likely because it's 4 in the morning, I have the distinct desire to take "Super Cider Squeezy 6000" and make it about cloud computing
since folks treat it like a cure-all tonic for all that ails businesses
works about as well as those old tonics, too
