So yeah, on friday, I woke up feeling like I had to throw up. I also woke up to my mom telling me quote 'someone drove through the shop.'
In my groggy nauseous stupor, I kept thinking: drive through a structurally-brick building? IMPOSSIBRU! It hadn't really occured to me that they might have driven through the bay door. And it didn't occur to me, because my shop is parallel with the street it's on. There's no clear shot for a car to gain speed to drive into the building. Furthermore, there's a ~200 year old tree immediately to the left of the short driveway to the door. But somehow this dumb stupid complete moron old man managed to miss the tree, the cars parked on the street, AND the frame of the bay door, while making a turn into the driveway, keeping enough momentum to ram through the door, ricochet off that lovely late model Navigator, then finally demolish the inside wall on the right.
Nobody was hurt, thank Celestia. But had someone been standing in front of that door at the time... they'd have been fucked.
Oh yea, that Navigator that got smashed? Belongs to a limo company. It is was their nicest car. By far. Their others are ghetto junkers. Damn shame, but I'm pretty sure there's no permanent damage to it. The hummer, on the other hand, broke a rear leaf spring, among all the cosmetic injuries.
So anyway I got myself over there, and by the time I arrived, I felt like complete shit. Dizzy and nauseous, I was just sick as a dog. While the guys cleaned up the mess, all I could manage to do was reroute the wiring for the main light switch (that was right on the corner of the wall that was hit), and that took me a couple hours. I'm guessing it was food poisoning, but a lot of people are telling me that they've heard this thing is going around. Stomach flu??? Another food recall in our near future? Who knows. It put me out of commission until sunday, but honestly my digestive system is still ironing itself out.
As for my writing... well I kind of am. I have that fresh new one shot ready to go and plastered with fresh cover art! The first cover I've ever commissioned at that! Had it done by KaoKay, friend of a friend.
You're always stuck sitting next to someone for the whole flight...
Me? I got a pony with a fear of flying.
It's a 2k word one shot I came up with while - you guessed it! - on a flight. This story is also - to my knowledge - my first to involve ONLY original characters. It's polished and ready to go, though I might want to go back and add something, I'm shooting for sometime this week? We shall see...
Well, there's your problem

I've seen Aviophobia (or Aviatophobia or Pteromerhanophobia) mentioned in other fics by how Earth Ponies, typically Applejack if Fluttershy is unavailable to pick on by the author, don't like to leave the ground to varying degrees. I can only guess this is similar to how some Pegasi, usually Rainbow Dash, don't like being restricted in small spaces.
Personally, I don't mind flying but I love the take-off and landing parts. It's the most expensive rollercoaster trip I've ever purchased.
And air turbulence is an unexpected bonus-- guess it's the G-forces pushing me around as I'm strapped down. My inner Pinkie always goes "Wheeee!" as it reminds me of bumpy school bus days back in the day over that pothole filled road and I'm almost hitting the roof after a particularly large one in the back of the bus.
1916648 Like sitting in the back of a full-length school bus rolling down Lake Shore Drive. Ahhh, those were the days. Alas, I'm much older now. And they repaved.
But yea, I don't personally think earth ponies would naturally have aviophobia. Just way more likely to than pegasi, that's all. Except you Fluttershy...

Elderly people and their experience at life, they seem never willing to learn from it themselves.

Oh Red. If it weren't for crazy, you'd have no life to speak of!
Glad nobody was hurt, of course. Hope you're feeling better too - I've got a nasty congested chest and head, grrah. HATE BEING SICK!
I want to commission my next story's cover artwork! That looks awesome! I can't wait to read this, Red!
1919456 I'm doing ok. Hopefully by week's end I'll be able to eat 10 pounds of food, then go back for seconds, like I used to! Hope you feel better too. Being sick sure does suck.
