    New story submitted!

Alright! Got feedback from my betas -- and thanks to RainbowDoubleDash, Talon&Thorn, and ThatGuyVex, for their advice--and integrated it into my story, then submitted. It is live here, with chapter 1 already up; subsequent chapters will go up daily if everything goes according to plan! The story is just over 40,000

    New Story off to Betas

New story is completely drafted and off to my beta readers! (Well, technically the draft was completed and the story was sent to betas a day or so ago, but I hadn't gotten around to writing this blog post until now.) Woohoo! Tentatively expecting to receive all beta comments, make edits, and publish within 2 weeks. I think you Lunaverse fans are going to enjoy this one.

Derpy Day! And where I've been · 10:52pm Mar 3rd, 2014

Hello!

So, first of all, I did have my Derpy Day banana-nut muffin. Which was surprisingly hard to find in a city this big. (The bakery only had 'millet' muffins, and the only thing I know about millet is that it's used as the 'food of last resort' in some of my comics. E.g., "Bob was so poor he was reduced to eating millet. Oh, the humanity!" So I tracked down a grocery store with a proper muffin. And it was very good. I like banana, and nuts, and muffins, so it all worked very nicely.

Second, you've probably noticed that I haven't been writing as much fanfic. Sorry about that. Basically, what happened is I began trying to get published in actual paying venues. (I've been trying a bit for a while, but now I'm getting serious about it). So I've been writing a lot more original fiction, which leaves less time for fanfic. And writing that does generally take priority over fanfic, since it's more likely to build to something more substantial. (Sure, I have no sales yet, but I can dream! And I got a personal rejection which says that I'm not totally terrible! There's a chance!)

Basically, my writing schedule currently looks like this:

* 5000 word submission for professional venue, due by end of month
* 2500 word submission for professional venue, due by end of month

* Octavia Sings the Blues
* Siege of Stalliongrad, Duke Abides, Ice Hearts

I do promise to try and get rid of some of this backlog. I plan to complete OStB this month, at least, and can hopefully make more substantial progress in SoS as well. I really want to share a bunch of these stories... it's just hard to get everything down in the deadlines I have.

So, sorry, but I do hope to make progress on all fronts relatively soon.

Fair enough. Obviously you have to do things that may earn you money before you do things purely for fun.

I did wonder what had happened with Blues and I know you've put lots of thought into Siege.

Not a problem. Good success on the pro writing, too. :yay: Although... Derpy Day?!

1893386 : Yeah, there was a thing where Derpy fans were supposed to eat a banana-nut muffin on March 1st. It was delicious. :-)

1893353 : Thanks for understanding.

For what it's worth, I really am glad to hear you're meeting with potential real world success. If anyone has the combination of talent, creativity, and perhaps most importantly drive to make it as a professional author, it's you. So best of luck.

...also will be looking forward to more Ice Hearts, whenever you find the time.

Out of interest what type of writing are you trying to do professionally?

Factual, fiction, a particular genera?

1898678 :SFF, mostly. I love genre works.

1893353 ...of course, then today I had a bolt of inspiration for OstB, so I had to run with it. :twilightblush: Hope you enjoy!
