Friendship is Card Games: Kenbucky Roller Derby #2 & #3

We return to the cutthroat world of G5 roller derby, where Sunny’s trying her darndest to prove she’s more than just a casual skater… and has assembled one of the most ragtag teams of misfits this side of the Mighty Ducks in the process. Let’s see how the story’s developed from there.

    Swan Song

No, not mine. The Barcast's. The last call is currently under way, and if you want to hear my part in the grand interview lightning round, you can tune in at 4:20 Eastern/1:20 Pacific (about an hour from this posting.)

Yes, 4:20 on 4/20. No, I do not partake. Sorry to disappoint. :derpytongue2:

    Pest List

Just something I whipped together for fun one day, set to a possibly recognizable tune, all intended in good fun. And hey, given that I derived my Fimfic handle from a misremembered detail of the Mikado, it's only appropriate. :derpytongue2:

Friendship is Card Games: d20 Pony, Ch. 9, Pt. 1

Goodness, it’s been almost two years since I last checked in on Trailblazer’s adventures. IDW putting out comics almost as quickly as I could review them will do that, especially given all of the G5 video media coming out concurrently.

    Conflicted Crossroads

I have an interesting dilemma with an upcoming story, and thus I turn to the Fimfic public (or that portion of it that sees these blogs) for its wisdom.

I admit this is debatable, but until I see conclusive proof to the contrary, I have this to say:

The Multiverse is pony-canon

Breezies are from a different plane, and need a portal to move between it and Equestria. Given their dialect and morphology, they are clearly from the pony analogue of Lorwyn/Shadowmoor.

Given the manticores, minotaurs, hyrdae, and so forth, this may make Equestria the pony analogue of Theros, though the much higher technology level makes that unlikely. Perhaps Terisiare on pony Dominaria, with the zebra regions as Jamuraa? Or, given Seabreeze's struggles, it's actually pony Zendikar... which may make Discord an Eldrazi.

In any case, HA! Until further information comes to light, I am officially awesome. Tomorrow, there will be cards, but until then, I leave you all with this:

Glen Epona
Plane — Lorwynny
Whenever a player casts a spell during another player's turn, the casting player may draw a card.
Whenever you roll chaos, you may cast nonland cards as though they had flash until your next turn.

You were officially awesome anyway in my book. But yeah, that is pretty cool.

Though it raises an interesting point... what were the breezies doing harvesting pollen in another dimension? And are there other extra-dimensional critters harvesting other, less tangible resources?

I prefer your original idea that Ungula is a plain in an of itself, there need not be analogs to other plains.
Though I do like the idea of Discord as an Eldrazi. That wouldn't lock him into a color and his "Chaos magic" is just something outside of the norm and thus defies how others thing magic should work. Both for unicorns and plainswalkers.

1885044 And if they harvest and pollinate across multiple planes, what happens when they next visit Mirroden New Phyrexia?

I thought the mirrors (there's another in the comics) already established a multiverse?

Or... they live in villages surrounded by a camouflaged force field, sort of like Wizard City in Adventure Time?

Not Lorwhinny?

Discord as an Eldrazi. Hm. "When you cast Discord, target sandwich becomes tuna (multiple instances of tuna are delicious). Annihilator :moustache:"

1885696
Given that an errant leaf was able to throw about a dozen of them into death spirals, I don't think they get the chance to contaminate anything.

1885044
Well, given that the faeries of Lorwyn harvest dreams, I can't help but suspect that the pollen grains are actually specialized containers. Possibly for storing the wonder and awe of ponies watching the breezies pass by. That's what the magic's really for. Storing and preserving the precious pony emotions. :pinkiecrazy:

1885219
Oh, my stories deviated from canon a long time ago. This is canon Equestria's position in the Multiverse we're talking about, not Ungula. And it seems that this Multiverse uses the equinoid form as a default rather than the humanoid one.

1885696
They don't. Pollen grains made of solid gold are far too heavy, and Mirroans were far less accommodating in supplying breezes even when Memnarch was suppressing the infection.

1886073
No, those just lead to alternate Equestrias in six-dimensional possibility space. The breezies appear to come from an entirely different universe, rather than just a different potential instance of magical horseland.

1886170
If that were the case, there wouldn't be a time window; they could just reopen the barrier. Unless, of course, they're in a magical Dark Age where they have no control over the systems their predecessors established, but that is incompatible with how I want to view the situation and is thus ignored. I'm sure you're familiar with that process. :raritywink:

1886822
Not enough of a portmanteau.

1887800
Oh, not as they are. Any Phyrexian faction would probably reduce them to raw materials rather than try and compleat something so flimsy. Except the Vicious Swarm, which would probably just eat them.

1887874
Honestly I'd be impressed if more than 1-2% of them even survived long enough to encounter anything...well, I was going to say living but that may not be the best word for it. A lot of Phyrexians don't strike me as "alive" any more, more like they're moving and possessed of something akin to intelligence maybe.

I was going to take a shot at Conversion Bureau fans here, but I've been doing that a lot lately. Best tone it down before I come across as some kind of psycho.

1887874 If you allow for quantum variance realities (like you're stating with the mirrors), then the Breezies are also from "an Equestria", just one that branched off so far back as to be unrecognized as such by those that don't understand quantum reality theory. Also, it's impossible to be from another universe, since the universe is EVERYTHING, including all alternate realities.

1887874 Oh, yes I am:twilightsmile:

as it is, your "no control over the system" isn't far off from my headcanon. as it is, I was simply offering an alternative view:twilightsmile:

There is a reason it's called the MULTIverse, as in, multiple universes.

I'm just going to leave this here.

[youtube=0ca4miMMaCE]

1888044 Universe literally means "everything that exists", so if it exists it is part of the universe.

1889322
And Multiverse is short for "multiple universes." It's a fundamental part of Magic: the Gathering canon. For most things (and by "most" I mean more than ninety-nine point a lot of nines percent,) a given plane is, in fact, all there is. For planeswalkers, there's rather more. Whether or not the Multiverse qualifies as a universe is really more a matter of semantics.

Here's the way to think of it: a possibility space contains all possible worlds whose timelines started with a single given Big Bang or similar universe-initiating event. Different planes emerge from different Big Bangs, and they didn't all start at the same time.
