Writing stories.
Remember the following whenever you write anything. Life is not always going to make you laugh, nor will it make you cry forever. Life is not ever going to be anything like you see on reality TV, or a great horror film.
With all that in mind, you have to remember that life is full of it's ups and downs. At the end of the day, when you know about your characters, you need to remember what kind of people they are, and how they would react to something.
It doesn't matter if you are writing an MLP Comedy Fan Fic, or an original drama designed to make people cry, you have to remember that life isn't one note, and neither should your stories be as such. Pepper in some drama into a comedy, have a funny moment in your drama, and have the guy get the girl in the scary story. Life is in session, not just for you, but also for your characters.
