Okay. I gotta come clean with this.
I'm not enjoying writing The Garden Beyond anymore. The only thing going through my mind when I think "I need to get TGB finished." is "Ugh. I just wish that fic would get out of the way so I could write something I'd be happier with."
I started writing it because I thought it would be some fun background exploration and get people talking. I don't feel I really accomplished my goal on either of these points.
Writing this fic has become a chore rather than a pleasure, something I've been doing just because I should finish what I've started.
It's killing my inspiration, and it's killing my drive to write.
I'm sorry, followers and fans of the Garden, but I can't do it anymore.

If writing a particular story is causing more harm than enjoyment, then terminate it. Nobody will think any less of you for deleting a story you hate. Most everybody should have done it at least once.

1874552 Dude, I know how you feel. When something you thought you loved to do becomes a chore, then don't do it. I've deleted plenty of stories that I knew I'd never finish. No one will blame you for it.
Hell, maybe you can even let someone else complete it for you.

1874659 Understandable. But just a little word of advice: you can delete it from this site, but I strongly advise that you don't get rid of it entirely. Never completely destroy or delete ANY piece of writing you do, or at least piece of serious writing, even if you have no intention of continuing it. You'll never go when you'll get a creative spurt from it. Just a thought.

It is, but not as unfortunate as never writing fic again because it's taking up all my drive and getting nowhere.
By all means, drop it. I'll admit I'll be sorry to see the Garden go, but I'd be sorrier to see you go, and from the sound of things, that's about what it's coming to. Do what you think best to get back on an even keel, and I wish you the best in whatever thoughts your muse decides to drop on you next.
