Lazarus Notice/random one shot idea · 2:40am Feb 26th, 2014
Well first off time to get the Lazarus notice out of the way. I've finally started and finished most of the first half of the chapter remake. Not much has changed save for a few dialogue change ups and I'm also digging just a teensy bit more in depth of Celestia and the humans discussion. *Cough*Discords*Cough*Gone*Cough*
*Gagging fit*
Anywho, I've also decided that when the chapter is done I will be posting a blog for anyone who would like to pre-read it. Just in case I have somethings that may contradict themselves. Other than that it's coming along slow, but smoothly.
Remember just like Fluttershy says, "Baby steps everypony, babby steps." Yes I intentionally spelt babby. Got problem with that? Yes? Sue me.
*One shot idea*
So this is something I thought of while on my ceramic throne, I bet this has been done to death. If not I'll be pleased, but if so I don't give a damn. Well while I sat on my throne I found my self thinking about genetic engineering, gene splicing, and stem cells. Mostly because I decided to stick my head out of my man cave and I recently heard about the man who tried out the first grown hamburger...
Yeah I've been down there for quite the while.
Anywho, after hearing about that we humans actually grew meat... don't hear that too often now do I. I began to think about in the distant future what if we as humans were actually able to conquer genetic engineering to the point that we could actually grow and clone living breathing animals, maybe even human beings. But I mean actually physically design, what eye color and what not. Right now I know we can already kind of do that like with chickens and stuff the basic shit they teach you in your first year of high school in biology. You know punnet squares?
But I'm talking about like deep sci-fi shit like designing your own baby. You get to choose what eye color, are they going to be beautiful, how long will there hair be... that type of genetic engineering.
Now some of you may already know where I'm going with this, and the type of story I was going for would be. What if humanity or even major spending companies *Cough*Hasbro*cough* in the distant future were able to use this technology to their financial advantage?
What I'm talking about people is what if a company *cough*Hasbro*cough* created and sold ponies to little kids around the world for profit? I'm saying could dial them up or go and design and create your own special pony similar to walking into your nearest build a bear. And I'm talking about a living breathing my little pony, it eats, sleeps but doesn't talk... nor does it feed itself.
Why?
Because it's a toy, a play thing, at least that's what Hasbro's scientist genetically engineered it to be. A creature who is only meant to please it's master, it's living but it doesn't have soul. It can't think, it can't sleep, it can't dream. Might as well be a walking corpse.
The story I thought of on my throne explores this topic, what if there was a genetic defect. A clone that actually developed a soul and could think for itself, and what if it found out who it truly was and what it was meant to do? How would it react? Would it be happy, sad, or even angry? What if it discovered its other exact replicas?
How would the company Hasbro react to such a defect?
Would they allow it a home, or would it be deleted and replaced with an exact replica?
This is a tragic one shot story I started to plan about a defected pony named Starhunter who was born and raised for three years in Pasture Hills, a small plantation where these genetically engineered ponies go to live before they are chosen by a family. That's if they're lucky, if not the ponies who live to their limit (9 years unless you pay extra for the long living ponies) are taken to the chambers for deletion. A defected pony that developed sentience, on her third year in the Pasture she is finally picked out by a divorced mother who that takes her into their home in the big city. There Star will begin to walk the path in which she'll learn the deep dark truth about herself and her species as a whole.
I'd give it a read.
Fluffy ponies!
This idea...
It sounds pretty nice.
Even so nice that I could see it being a full story and not just a one-shot.
