Has anybody else been getting audio ads on FiMFic? · 4:59pm Feb 10th, 2014
It's only started yesterday, but suddenly I've been getting audio ads on FiMFiction. This has never happened before.
I know that it's on FiMFiction and not another tab because my browser lets me know what tab is playing audio at any one time, and it's always an FiMFic tab. What's weird, though, is that I can never seem to find the ad in question that's making the noise, at least not visually. The only ads that tend to show up on story pages (where audio tends to happen for me) are thin, bar ads, not the more squarish-shaped ads that show up on story pages or userpages, which more commonly tend to turn into audio ads/video ads for me on other sites...
I'll just be reading or loading a new chapter and all of a sudden BAM! There's some advertisement for the olympics or for lipstick or something playing in my headphones. And the bar ads I find at the bottom of the page don't seem to have anything to do with what the audio is talking about, and I can't find whatever the source of it is.
Usually it'll go away after about 30 seconds, but sometimes new ones will start up randomly, and occasionally one ad will just lead into another. If I refresh the page usually it'll go away, but sometimes, again, it'll come back several minutes later or will just play another one as soon as it loads again.
Is this, or anything similar to it, happening to anybody else?
If this keeps up I may have to get adblocker. I hate to do that because I know it decreases revenue for the site, but I'm not going to put up with insurance ads playing in my ears when I'm trying to read.
Oh yeah. This has been happening to me too. I go to listen to my music, and then an add would be going on from this site. The only thing I can do to turn off the ads is to close my tab. :( You're not alone on this...

Sporadically, for weeks. I can never find the ad playing either.

I've had this problem, and I've fixed this problem. More than likely, you unknowingly downloaded an add on to your browser that forces you to view adds. Find and kill that add on, and you'll ditch the annoyance. If you can't figure out how, skype me and I'll walk you through it.

Nothing is showing up in my downloads section that I didn't authorize...

1819758 Chances are they would simply state that its for revenue to maintain the site or something like that and refuse to listen. It also doesn't seem to show up very often for me and since i watch youtube alot and ads show up EVERYWHERE on that site I've kinda built up a bit of a tolerance *shrug*. The fact that I play games with big guns and lots of enemies probably helps too...nothing says stress relief like going nuts with a machine gun against hordes of enemies lol

Yeah, I've been getting them too, but for me it only started last week. I use Firefox.
However, I have been able to find the ad that makes the sound, which is usually the one at the very bottom.

I haven't had this happen to me. At one time I had this funny thing where if I click in the page it will load an ad on another tab. But that seems to have gone away since I removed an add-on that might have caused it.
Heh, I don't see the ads anyway. I maintain a userstyle that hides them all.
But is this does get overly annoying I do have a little script I worked on that replaces fimfics ads with something a little less, annoying.

This problem has just started for me, I am thinking that some addsite is hacking through Fimfiction because the add is pointless without a link to click so all it is doing is pissing me off. The Site admins need to find and kill it.
