Sketch and a Scene · 5:24am Feb 8th, 2014

So there I was, perusing the internet trying to write for the many fics I need to update, when an idea struck me. I immediately imagined an action scene and began to write. But soon I felt that I needed to have a visual. so I started to draw. Eventually the little blurb of words below and the totally swiped comic arrangement (I only learn from the best worst) not-as-below came into being.

For your BGM pleasure:

Dem crooked eyes...

Smoke and dust swirled around me as I stood up. The sounds of crumbling rock and cracking earth were accompanied by a palpable tension. Despite the size of the crater I made, I fully expected him to come lunging at me through the roiling cloudy wisps that resulted from my attack.

“What are you doing here?” the unicorn cried out, calling my attention to her as she stood to my right. She was shaking her head as though trying to deny what was happening. “W-Why aren’t you saving Twilight?!”

Why, indeed.

The fate of Equestria rested on the Princess of Magic. There was no way our plan would succeed without her. Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash...they were all fighting their way through scores of their brainwashed friends and family to get into the palace, all to rescue their friend. And yet I was here, taking the bait that was set to lure me away from the life-or-death fight from this awful nightmare.

So why was I here, risking my ass for a pony that could very well be a Manchurian candidate just waiting to stab me in the back with that horn of hers?

It was a simple answer to a complex situation.

The only thing that had driven me to get to this point. The constant feeling that pulled me through every one of the obstacles that had gotten in my way. The only thing that felt anywhere close to being real in this nightmare I’ve been stuck in was the pony staring up at me with worry and desperation and frustration in her eyes.

“I’m here to save you.”

She bristled at my declaration, immediately furrowing her brow. “Save me? What are you talking about...You idiot! Moron! Jerk!”

“What kind of thanks is that?!” I blurted back at her, shocked that she’d be so against me being here. "

“You just don’t get it, do you?” Twilight was quiet, now. As though it pained her to even utter the words that had been clutching at her heart, stoking out guilt and regret. I couldn’t even laugh at how hard she tried to hide the trembling in her voice. “Don’t you remember what he said? I’m not Twilight Sparkle! The real one's a princess for crying out loud! You should be saving her, not some imposter like me!”

I immediately growled out, “I’m not here to save her, I’m here to save you!" I wanted to get it through her stubborn head, already! "It doesn’t matter if you’re not who you said you are. Twilight Sparkle, I’m going to keep you safe like I promised. Alright?”

Her lip quivered as tears streamed down her face. Hearing her sniffling was making me angry. Angry at myself. For being so unable to protect her. My jaw clenched at the thought and my fists ached to hit that bastard a million million more times for starting this whole mess in the first place...

~Bonus points for knowing where the swiped comic arrangement comes from~

And now for something completely different
