Hey, do you like Princess Cadance?
...well, then you're in the fandom's minority, I suppose, but if you're following me you probably have a greater than average chance of answering "yes" to this question than the average viewer might. If you did answer "yes," or indeed if you merely muttered equivocally but secretly enjoy a good tale that pinch-zoom expands on the canon and fleshes it out with a lovely sense of atmosphere, why not try my former nemesis Bradel's new story "Three Nights"? The only thing it will cost you is a feel or two, and if you watch Pony you probably have feels to spare.

Because you are likely a colt of nervous character who values things like "emotion" more than fortitude and good solid athletic discipline.

Seriously, though, give it a checkout. I liked it. You might, too!
I'm glad you all agree on this.
Why wouldn't we like Cadence? Princess Candybutt is a very enjoyable character, and the folks who whine and pout because she wasn't foreshadowed since S1 can go and choke on gravlax.

I have to say, one of my very favorite things about "Three's a Crowd" was that Discord just came right out and lampshaded that whole where-was-Cadance issue.
Damnit, I'm currently stressed between launching a new trope page (and the assorted work accompanying it), reading the dozen fanfic tabs I have open, and the actual schoolwork I need to get done within the next 40 minutes, and then this happens. Why must fate replace my dearth of interesting things to do with an overabundance of interesting things to do in a limited amount of time?

wait, I feel like I missed that c.c
At first, I was not terribly fond of Princess Heartbutt. Well, it wasn't that I had a problem with her as much as the executive meddling that made her a living upending of the neat, tidy, two-alicorn system. However, time and your stories have helped mellow my opinion. Three Nights is now on my Read Later list.
Also, you really need to be more careful about letting Ms. Harshwhinny ride you like a Loa. That can lead to a harshening of the arteries, at the very least.

Agreed. Between that and the whole "Twilight's too good for us now that she's a princess" thing, he seemed to be something of a brony mouthpiece.
That, of course, leads to some interesting symbolism of our being represented by the spirit of chaos and disharmony...

HAH
I totally missed that interpretation. :D
Also I'm amused that "all the scenes with Discord" is just over half the episode. Just goes to show how poorly it was set up. :B

Headcanon: Utterly burned by the fallout of the Cloudsdale affair and sick of Canterlot's political machine, Cady sequesters herself back in Reduit and shuts out the outside world for a decade.
We'll see if I actually write that far.

Oh, please do!

Trying, darling. Writing is hard.
Candybutt?
Candybutt.

Because of the statistical phenomenon known as 'clumping'!

FWIW, I've got Cadence down in my headcanon as a pegacorn instead of a 'true' alicorn, if that helps.
(Twilight still gets to be a full alicorn, though, because A] her ascension is explicitly mentioned in the narrative as being a Big Deal, instead of just showing up out of nowhere; B] she's got symbolism that makes the transition from a two-alicorn system to a three-alicorn one actually make sense; C] Twilight is best pony and she gets to do whatever she wants.)
