One thing I can't stand. · 4:10pm Jan 21st, 2014
Have you ever saw a story you liked, began reading it, then you bump into characters or situations that make you go 'Huh? What the--?' Upon further inquiries, you discover that said characters or situations were covered in a different story. I would there was some mention of that in the description of the story. I know a lot of authors do mention in the description that this is a sequel/prequel or mention that some elements from {insert story title here} are in this story. I admit I have refused to read story that require you to read another story to understand. However, I have also went to read that other story first before reading the first story I saw. I would just like to be given the choice before I get into a story.
Just a random thought.
thank you for finally voicing this, but, i can understand them not doing it if it's like xstoryx volume 3 or so on
1844786 I understand that. I'm talking about the ones that have a completely different focus, yet has a lot of elements in it that confuse you, unless you have read a different story.
Sounds quite reasonable.
I commonly do keep a Prequel/Sequal line on my stories, if they are actually related.
Question is how much one need, before it needs to be mentioned that the ellements are explained in a previously written story.
Do I need to mention that 'Nyx' is from 'Past Sins', just because she is mentioned, if she has not even been partaking in a story, as an example?
2569553 My answer to your question is this. If you are going to have a character in your story that was first introduced in another story, that should somehow appear in the description. I know that 'Nyx' is a character of 'Past Sins'. However, I never read, nor do I have any intention of reading that story. So, if I know that Nyx is in that story that is being written, I do not read that story. Unless the author is able to write the story in such a way, that it isn't necessary to have read 'Past Sins' in order to understand that story and says so in the description. I hope this answers your question.
