What inspired King Daedalus? · 10:48pm Jan 11th, 2014
I was at home one day, reeling from the feedback from 'How to tell your friends you#re dating a changeling,' when all of a sudden, this song came up on my playlist.
At the time, I was planning on writing a changeling Queen, but then I thought to myself, "what if instead I made a King? Everyone just assumes all the changeling leaders are female due to their similarities to hives. Why not take it in a different direction?"
As I wrote Daedalus, I was inspired by the song to create a wise, but eccentric figure. Someone who would lead the reader and Question Mark through a large part of the story. The concept of Daedalus being an avid dancer also came from the song. Combine that with my love of Greek mythology and we have his majesty, the king of the Everfree changeling's, King Daedalus.
Thank you, Billy Idol.

(A coincidence later...)
Wheres Icarus?
The reason I assumed the leaders were female was because they're control freaks with poorly laid plans.
hehehe sexism is funny
Great, now I'm going to have billy idol stuck in my head for awhile... Which I guess isn't really a bad thing. Thanks a lot man.
Interesting... I would have thought more towards Sheogorath based off of your earliest chapters. Don't know who Sheogorath is? Then shame on you!
I have no problem with having chosen a king instead of a queen. my question is why you went and made him some kind of anthro thing
I mean, it doesn't really bother me too much. I just kind of mentally replace every instance of hand/feet with hooves, and doing so has yet to disrupt the story in any way.
so i just wanna know, why?
lol
1708966 < this.

1708158 Never a bad thing. Unless your in a test and trying to concentrate.
1708402 Honestly, I had never heard of Sheograth until the story. A bunch of people pointed this out to me, and yes, I do see the similarities after watching a few videos. I'm not a fan of Elder Scrolls if I'm honest.
1708966 1709470 First of all, why not? Second of all, if I remember correctly, I wanted to emphasise the point that Chrysalis is not a real Queen. All the Kings and Queens of the changelings are humanoid, or anthro as you put it. I'll go into more detail exactly why later on in the story, but I'm trying to keep the focus on the romance for the moment.
1709693 I have no idea how to respond to that comment

Well then, in the words of Odin...
You are a vain, greedy, cruel boy!

1711340 I've seen that before Allow me to ask you a question. Do you like Doctor Who?

I'm impartial to it. I have no like or dislike towards it, though I do enjoy a bit of british humor from time to time...
See what I did there?
