Crazy Theorie Time 1 : King Sombra deserves more appreciation · 6:42pm Jan 11th, 2014

Hello there and welcome to my first Crazy Theorie Time where I want to tell you my thoughts on various topics and events inside the show. This time I will be writing about King Sombra and why I think that he deserves more love

Now before you read this, I want to tell you that THIS is my own opinion. If you think otherwise than it's totally fine. You can tell me your own opinion in the comments if you want but please do not rage. Don't prepare a giant shitstorm for me just because we think differently.
Now that this is out of the way I'll begin with my thoughts :
My little pony had some cool villians right? Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis......but what about Sombra? Most fans dislike him because he has such little screen time, he didn't say much otherwise than just crystals and he wasn't a real thread. I can see why people would think that and I accept why they think like this but I can't agree on them myself. Others might have done the same already, writing something about Sombra and why he is a pretty good villian but I'm going to do it anyway. I want to share my thoughts with you. Let's begin with this :

1. Sombra looks like a bad OC
One of the points that was easy to accept. I mean yeah, he does look a little bit weird but I think it's mostly the horn that makes him look so "bad made". The rest of him doesn't look too bad. The crown? Looks really badass! His cape? Worthy a true king! His armor? Why shouldn't he wear one? The guards are wearing armor today in Canterlot and in the Crystal Empire. Why shouldn't he? His fangs? Who doesn't want fangs for the villian? His eyes? Awesome as hell! They make him look even more evil! His mane? As dark as a shadow. Hello? King of shadows? His name even means Shadow in spanish! Also he was a shadow most of the time. How can you be mad about his design when he was a cloud of black smoke with a badass face?!

2. Sombra doesn't talk much
That is because he is not supposed to! He IS the king of shadows. Do shadows talk to you? No. Shadows stand for silence and darkness! And that is what he is for the biggest part. A shadow. Maybe some like villians that talk for ages but do nothing after that. He is the opposite. He wants his crystal slaves, so he takes them. He isn't revealing his plan to every single pony who wants to know it. He lets his actions speak for him. And that growl he has.....imagine you would be out there, in the snow. Alone against King Sombra...

3. He isn't doing anything
First, how the hell was he supposted to do anything? That shield that Cadence raised was too much. Second, he didn't even needed to do anything at the time. He had everything planned inside the castle. If Twilight didn't know about that "evil magic" than he would have just waited and took his empire back without any effort. And normally a simple unicorn wouldn't know anything about it. (And that "evil magic" thing....maybe I'll do a post about this later!) Usually, nopony could have opened the staircase to the door, down in the castle. The door itself would have been impossible to go trough for one pony alone. And then the stairs back to the top. For all of you who are making bad Sombra stairs jokes now. How should he climb up the tower otherwise? He is a unicorn and he can fly in his shadow form but not everyone can do that. He may have ruled the castle but he didn't build it. He only changed certain rooms. Also he made all this traps like the door or the prison on the top a thousand years ago! If it wasn't for Spike, he would have won. Without any problems at all.

4. Sombra isn't evil
Why isn't he evil? Because he hasn't done anything big in the episode? Do I need to remind you that we don't know why he is doing all this? Could be that he is just an evil pony who does all this because he wants some fun. In the past, he enslaved the crystal ponies but did he do anything with them? Building an army or something? No. He enslaved them and watched them. And he was freaking happy while he did it. He isn't like Nightmare Moon who wanted revenge. Not like Chrysalis who wanted love for her changelings. He just did it because he was able to. Because he liked it. And THAT is what I call evil.

5. He has no powers
Oh, he does have powers. Awesome powers! He can turn into shadow, disable other unicorns magic, can creat crystals, can change crystals, can show people their greatest fears, controll them and finally he has really strong magic. He cursed a whole empire while he was attacked by two alicorns with the elements of harmony. And while we speak of them. He must have been really powerfull if the princesses needed them to defeat him. You see, they needed the elements to defeat the god of chaos and later they were needed to destroy Nightmare Moon. If he was treated equal as these two than he must have had great power!

The last thing is this. What if he had succeeded? What if Spike wasn't there and the crystal heart wasn't given to Cadence? He would have got his empire back and hatred would have been spread across Equestria again. Let's look at what would have happened if the others would have won.
Discord : The land would have been full of chaos. But have a pony been harmed? No. Nopony would have died. Maybe they would have went all insane but they wouldn't have died. And chaos is not as bad as eternal hatred
Chrysalis : The ponies would have been captured but they wouldn't have been killed. The changelings need the love to survive so the ponies would have lived. Maybe they would have lived under a changeling ruler but they would have lived
Nightmare Moon : The land in eternal darkness......so? It's dark now. Was anyone harmed while she was back in the first episodes? Everypony feared her but was just one single pony harmed because of her? She only attacked Twilight because Twilight wanted to stop her. If nopony would have attacked her or questioned her, then everything would just have been dark. Maybe the ruler changed and the happiness in the land wouldn't be the same as earlier but anything else?
Sunset Shimmer : I don't think I need to say much about this. She would have never overthrown Celestia with an army of teenagers.
But now look at Sombra. If he would have won then he would have got his empire back. He would have defeated one of the princesses and captured all bearers of the elements of harmony. The others would have done that all too but aren't we forgetting something? His fear and mind controlling powers? He could have controlled the bearers, collected the elements, used them AGAINST the princesses, conquered all of Equestria, enslaved everyone and spread hatred for all time. And the princesses wouldn't have anything to stop him. And there is the most evil thing he could do. He could just kill everypony in his way. When he wanted to get the crystal heart he flew towards it and Spike. I bet he would just take the heart and throw Spike away. He would be ready to kill for his plans. Maybe not killing other directly but letting someone fall to his death without saving them is murder.
I know that this last point might be dramatic but it's what I think could have happened.
