Apologies for the lack of updates, but amidst working on MWBD, finding a job, completing school, and rewriting 60% of the past chapters for Homebound, I've been really, really busy.

... The Steam sales may or may have not played a part, as well. Nobody's perfect, least of all me.

    Promises

Oh dear. It's certainly been a while, hasn't it? I suppose I don't really have any excuses for being absent for over a month, right after a giant cliffhanger on Homebound, but what can you do? I got sick once, had surgery, got sick from the painkillers and felt like death was probably a nicer option than having my stomach decide to try

    Back.

New Homebound chapter up, secret project cancelled, no progress on the Rainbow Dash story*, and three scenes away from completion of the first chapter of VV, which is currently looking to be 25k long.

That is all. It's good to be back.

(For Homebound readers, I posted some questions in the comments of the recent chapter. Could use some input on that.)

    Leaving.

I'll be gone for the next couple of days, until Saturday at best. During that time, I'll still have access to the computer, and chances are I'll be very, very bored. I believe last year when this happened, I wrote over 12k words (which later ended up becoming Homebound.) and with that said, I'll still be writing. I've got Chapter 19 (the

The Loss of Everything · 5:55pm May 8th, 2012

So, this morning, I attempted to use the flash drive that I store most of my writing on. This includes everything from visual aids (I have a tendency to make maps of places in stories, almost obsessively, so I know where everything is) to thousands of notes on outlines, times, dates, character quirks I shouldn't forget, etc. I even had one document devoted entirely to storing quotes that I could use to inspire myself. In one of the folders, I also kept a large portion of my past writings as well, everything I've written on the computer for four years. Then there was the massive document that was Homebound, Act one in its final completion stages, and the next six or so (unedited) chapters of Standing Tall. And there was also the first few rough chapters and the long outline I had for Plotline.

It's all gone.

Granted, a lot of it was my fault. I don't know what caused the corruption of it, but I do know that not storing any majorly up-to-date backups was just because I was lazy. That one's on me. For the most part, I stored everything on a flash drive so I could have my own private area on the computer, one that my sister's couldn't dig into and screw around. They're the kind of sisters that would delete my stuff just for fun, or spread rumors, etc. It was a precaution, but it's still on me.

So Homebound is gone.

Standing Tall is gone.

Plotline is gone.

Everything I've ever written is gone.

Tons of stuff unrelated to my writing is gone. Schoolwork, macros, game files, all gone.

...

I... wow. It sucks. It's disheartening. I had the next three or four chapters of Homebound saved on gdocs because I was editing them, and I have the first two Plotline chapters there as well, but everything else just got scrapped. I'm going to have to rewrite the next half of Homebound's first act, and I'm going to have to painstakingly re-do all of the notes that I didn't put into gdocs.

Until then, I'm going to be downloading corruption-fixing software and generally be busy doing my best to fix everything.

The next Homebound update will proceed as planned. Standing Tall is canceled. Plotline will be put on hold.

Goodbye.
