What should I do? · 4:43am Jan 6th, 2014
Ok. So, as I'm sure you all know, Blackened Hearts is the first story I've written on this site. What less of you know, is that it is the first full-length story I've ever dedicated myself to writing. It's going to take some skill to write (as well as practice, which I sorely need). I really don't want to make this story mediocre as I have big hopes and plans for this story. I have recently run into a massive writer's block and simultaneously realised I don't even know my own characters. As such, I've become rather unmotivated to write this story and really have noone to talk to and bounce ideas off of for writing it.
This brings me to one of my two options for writing. I need an editor/prereader. I know I'm not even close to the best of writers and I've got some serious problems with long sentences and comma placement. I need help on not rushing things and planning the chapter-by-chapter points of storyline. I'm currently working one of my friends into learning about the world of MLP so that I can talk to someone about my ideas for Blackened Hearts without the subject derailing at every possible turn. The problem with this is that 1: he's not really a brony and is just watching MLP because I'm asking him to, and 2: he's not a writer and would only have the insight of an inactive reader. I need to find someone who knows what they're doing to help me with this.
My other option for writing is to put Blackened Hearts on haitus (for the most part) and write one or two smaller fics before I get back to it (I would still work on developing the characters in the meantime.) Right now I have an interesting idea going through my head for the first small fic. Fluttershy, the world champion in silence. It would take place several years before the show and would explore how she becam a world champion at the silent game and how she developed The Stare. It won't be a one-shot, but it won't be the 20-or-so chapter fic that Blackened Hearts is meant to be, either.
I would really like a bit of feedback from you, the audience, on what I should do; find an editor/prereader now and work my way into Blackened Hearts now, or search for them while writing my smaller projects?
You should post this on either Authors helping Authors or struggling writers. Or even school for new writers. They have forums you can find editors and people to comment on your story. You're only two chapters in. Don't give up so soon.

Your welcome!
I was really stuck for a while and felt like I really just hated my biggest story. There are a whole bunch of different threads and I got some really good feedback. Some threads are even just for getting comments on a story.
