I should point out that Fluttershy was afflicted with Vampire FRUIT BAT-ism.
The girls, Fluttershy included, had to differentiate between pony-eating/bloodsucking vampires, and fruit-sucking vampire bats.
This means that Equestria is confirmed canon for having knowledge of vampires. And if it's in fiction in a magical world, it probably exists/did exist at some point.
So Dennis is correct. Actual vampires are canon.
