Secret Project · 2:49pm Dec 28th, 2013
Yes, the reason I haven't been writing about our favorite pastel cartoon characters lately. So what is this project? I... can't really tell you. Suffice to say, I have a new job, and it's going to pay very well indeed, as soon as we actually get funding*. Unfortunately, right now that depends on us finding one or more artists proficient with 3D software such as Maya or 3DS Max. So, if you or someone you know is good with either of those and is interested in either one-time payment for work once we get funding*, or a full time job** once we get funding*, let me know. Familiarity with CryEngine is a major plus.
* We have an investor advertiser (they do not have creative input on the project) already lined up, they just need to see a demo of their advertisements in the project and then the money will start coming in.
** Willingness and ability to relocate to Indiana, United States required to qualify for job offer. Some restrictions apply. May contain traces of nuts.
If you haven't already guessed, we're building a video game. So I'm finally putting my degree in game development to use. I'll give you more details as I can once the company actually gets started, or more details on an individual basis to those who provide a bit of a portfolio and express interest in working with us.
One bit of advice: be careful with that investor. Remember that the only person that knows how your company works is you, no matter how "experienced" your investor may be in the field. They don't know your product as well as you do.
Listening to investors that thought they knew what would make a good game is what killed the project I was a part of. Investors don't care about making a good game, they care about making money.
As an aside, I do happen to know someone that studied 3D modeling in college and was quite proficient in 3DS Max. Unfortunately, he's in the Navy, atm, and probably won't be of much help in the short term.
Further aside, I happen to live in Indiana, have experience designing and making games (for the web, not really the same thing), and would be willing to help, if you should need it.
1656092 Investor is less accurate a term than advertiser. Their products and company will exist in-game in exchange for money. They will have no influence on gameplay or the story itself. We're making sure to avoid people who will want to hijack it and ruin it because of things they think would be good to add. Thanks for the advice and the offer to assist. I will certainly keep you in mind as we proceed. Feel
freeencouraged to spread the word around to find other people who would want to help with this as well, because right now just about the only thing we need to get ready to show interested advertisers is one or more good model/texture artists.
