Dog tags, long lost twins, and upcoming story · 3:37am Dec 21st, 2013
I was doing some Christmas shopping at a Target earlier today when a certain product caught my eye. It was located in the aisle generally reserved for trading cards. Due to the fact I used to buy Pokemon cards at Target when I was younger, I had formed a habit over the years of swinging by that aisle for no other reason than to make sure they were still there and to see what they looked like nowadays. This time, I didn't even look at the pokemon cards because I saw this.
I've never been into pony merchandise, but I found this hysterical anyway. I never knew you could even get themed dog tags, let alone pony ones. Not only was this actually a thing, both Pinkie Pie and Applejack are wearing them on the box, like dogs. I am aware that tough guys sometimes wear dog tags too, but it's a funny contrast either way. Ponies wearing dog tags.
Completely unrelated, it's come to my attention that I'm not the only writer with the pen name "Mysterious Stranger" on fimfic. I spotted another one with the exact same username, only his had no space between the two words. And to think that if I hadn't created an account first, I might not have gotten first choice. I expect that we had never crossed paths before because of our drastically different choices of genre. I mostly read and write adventure fics, he mostly reads and writes ship fics. We had a cute little conversation on his profile page if you want to see our reactions to discovering each other.
Lastly, I wanted to talk about an upcoming fic I'm working on. I actually have three different stories being worked on right now, but this one will probably see the light of day first. It's going to be called "Magicles", and it's basically about Twilight Sparkle using a science I made up to solve crimes. I have high hopes for its reception, and I think the title and premise will draw a lot of attention. Naturally, I'll have to publish it before I know for sure. My estimates have been wrong before. I mostly just hope I don't get downvoted for misspelling the word "magical" and making it plural. They're aren't any rules against using made up words as titles right?
