    It's another boring one! I ain't wrote nothin'! :B

It actually feels lately like I've been crawling out of a pit? So maybe there's a light ahead? But it's also blocked by Balatro lol somepony save me D:

The only other thing relevant to this blog is that I've had notes for a vs. post sitting in my notes document for probably the entire month now, what is wrong with me? D:

Fic recs, April 22nd: Jordan179 edition

Once again, though a good bit late, I bring it upon myself to memorialize an author via reviews of their stories. Though this time, it's different, as I had no connection to Jordan179 and only learned of his passing (three years ago this month, coincidentally), from this post

Another post about video games and Youtube and stuff

If I'm going to waste time watching shit on Youtube, the least I can do is tell people about it. :P

Ceave is a crazy Austrian with a love of video games and a head for philosophizing about them. Plus he really, really hates coins, no matter how tasty they may look.

Do you like video games? How about philosophy?

I like one of those things for sure, but no one combines the two better than a Youtuber named InfernalRamblings, a former professional game developer who now creates hour and a half long video essays about the meanings of video games and how they relate to the world today. Here's a few highlights, since this is now basically my only

Signal Boost: The Heroic Tale of Heroically Heroic Heroes · 6:12pm Dec 17th, 2013

So you all probably know the name Scribbler by now, since it shows up in like, half of my reviews anymore. Well, she's doing a thing now that goes a little beyond just a fanfic reading. The Heroic Tale of Heroically Heroic Heroes is a radio play, featuring artwork, music, sounds effects and a really stellar cast of voice actors telling a story mostly through dialogue.

That's the first episode, the only one out so far, and let me tell you, I'll be following this for sure (and reviewing it like a story at the end!) So far it introduces the main players and a number of side characters: Bucket, a supreme idiot of a janitor who dreams of being a Royal Guard; Honey, his much-beleaguered friend and all-around foil; a griffin sorcerer named Worm and his cat, Mr. Snuggles; and a number of others, including Derpy, Dinky, the real estate baron who employs both Bucket and Honey at his firm. No clue how important most of them will be, but I suspect, not much. It does a good job setting up the characters and their relationships, not to mention their day-to-day. As far as stakes go, it's hard to say, but there are definitely shenanigans afoot, and I've no doubt they won't coincide eventually with Bucket's quest. It's so far extremely funny.

My only criticism is that it's a tad slow, though of the hour-plus runtime, I can't say there were any words wasted. It just takes a while to get where it's going. For sure, all the setup so far either is tantalizing, pays off well, or does both.

And let me just talk about that cast for a moment. Aside from Scribbler herself as Honey, this features the ever-so-smooth DeftFunk; Pounce doing a wonderfully bubbly turn as Bucket; friend and fellow writer ABagOfVicodin; and a whole host of others I'm encountering for the first time but will no doubt be checking out more of later. This is such a good cast that I cannot rightly decide who my favorite was. (Points to Scribbler for the quitting scene, it was delivered marvellously. Points to whoever did Dinky for being adorable. Points to DeftFunk for being DeftFunk. Points to the goat.) Maybe the narrator; I dunno.

Like I said, I'll definitely be keeping up with this, and you should too. This'll be the last you hear of it from me until it's done though! (Tagged with EUH because this sounds like it'll be right up the alley of folks who like that story.)

I wonder where I got the range to play a sarcastic character that knows everything...

Sounds like a good deal. I'll let you know what I think when I finish watching it.

Also, how long have you been blogging about Doctor Who? I've been blogging about the classic series recently. So I saw your post about that fourth series premiere, but I didn't read it because I wanted to be surprised.

I just got back into the show after falling out of it last year, so that's the first post. :B

Heh, that was pretty funny. And I actually know Brained by Saucepans. I should congratulate him for helping this get off the ground sometime.

You are, like, my most favourite person in the world right now. I value your opinion quite a lot, so I was nervous about what you would finally think of Heroic Tale. I never dreamed you would make an entire blog post about it. :raritystarry: Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!

Well, of course I do. You make reasoned justifications for why you like/dislike the things you do and you can string an opinion together with more verbosity than "This am shit hur de hur!" I may not always AGREE with your opinions (several times I have felt the pull of the keyboard in defence of fics, though my inability to type nice things in a snit :flutterrage: stayed my hands), but I do value them. :raritywink:

I'm sorry I end up dogging on a lot of fics you read. :( I always feel bad when that happens. I think you just have more appreciation for slice of life than I do, which is why I always try to point that out when I'm reviewing.

And well, I guess that means your opinion means a lot to me as well. :D So let's both of us keep being awesome at what we do?
