I read in the treasury books of the comic strip Pearls Before Swine (if you don't know what that comic is, check it out. It's very funny) that the creator of the comic, Stephan Pastis, sometimes has difficulty predicting what comics are going to be a big hit, what comics are gonna generate complaints, and what comics are simply going to be duds.
I'm kinda feeling like him right now about some of my stories. For example, I had no idea that my latest story, A Real Legend, would get so much positive feedback. I was really under the impression that people wouldn't like this epilogue to my epic adventure The Do Dilemma. But, I guess I was wrong.
So, because thanking you all individually will take forever, I'm gonna do it here. To all those who liked A Real Legend: I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm glad that you proved me wrong.
Man, do I get that. I honestly have a pretty terrible track record of predicting reader reactions to what I write. Things that I think are great get ignored, and things that I think are just mediocre get tons of attention. I think it actually has to do with length a lot of the time. People are just much more willing to read something short.
