    Small Writing Thing

I participated in another group writing project. You can find it Over here.

I was feeling very cross at the government when I gave Rainbow a metal pipe. I actually love her here though.

    Clang.

    A thing to read

    Hi!

I commissioned a short fic from Monochromatic. You can read it over on Hollow Shades.

It’s rarity and rainbow and twilight being pals.

My son's comment just about sums this up.
"I want [to] watch a different one."

Still, Polsky is getting better. Just kinda slow.

This face, you were making it, yes?

This episode was just a little bit painful. Rainbow Dash is the cause. Pinkie is a little bit better though it amounts to being agile, painting a red line, and hugging Dash.

The second I saw that, i could almost hear the vector-recoloring people orgasming.

Polsky does like to use Pinkie and Dash, I just wish he was better at >story. But hey! He *is* actually trying to do morals and things. Sure, they're murky, but this one wasn't flubbed like Pinkie Keen~

Yeah, the 'so awesome' face had me fooled for a sec. THIS was the one. You know, I wonder if the theme of reusing memorable faces will carry on the whole season.

Yea the moral isn't screwed up but I find the early part of this episode a little bit grating.

Though I almost felt like you could make a comparison to how Dash was with Daring Do and Pinkie is with Dash. Following around like their biggest fan, trying to get close, stalkerish at times, and first annoying but later find out that the other is OK.

Pinkie did not demean her self worth so that at least is different.

Predictable and ignored most Mane 6 abilities and responibilities.

But entertaining and made the characters mostly very 3 dimensional.

Also did what fics do for me. Take the characters out of their normal roles and settings while keeping their personalities intact.

As fot that face I am not sure if in context it was a fangirl sneer at DD's quip or if Dashie just ships that pairing.

Lol Pinkie checks her box for Dash and Dash checks for Daring Do.

Dammit, I wanted a thorough review.

I thought the episode was the best I've seen in a while from MLP. From what I've seen, I'm the only one who carries that mentality.

Yeah, that was my mentality on the episode.

But I watch every episode three times. I've only gone twice so far. :dread:

Well, I wrote a review, but I'm just some chump apparently <3

Though, honestly, I think Kits' kid said everything that needed to be said in far fewer words.

1583713 Present Perfect and Ninetempest both liked/loved it.

I just can't be assed to do a thorough review on something I don't really have strong feelings on.

My kid sometimes is surprisingly concise. We watched the ep together, so no poisoning on my part.

I think the problem lies in how the cast seemed to wander into another show. When all six of your main protagonists are content to watch the fight scene unfold, there's something wrong.

I would think most of what to like in this episode is the idea of Daring Do AND her villains are real. Gives you some more stuff in the world to use and stuff generally related to Daring Do.

Outside of that most of the main characters did not serve much purpose and Dash was not really much fun for most of the episode. There were a couple of funny jokes and Daring Do is one of the few characters that gets an extended fight scene but not much was in this episode to write home about.

Yeah, the story kinda came out of nowhere, blasted through like a shot from a plazma canon and fizzled with a hiss. Typical from Polsky, amirite? :pinkiecrazy:

I liked Feeling Pinkie Keen. :twilightsheepish: Even the moral.

1585442 The problem with it was that it could easily be taken as the opposite of the intended lesson. The moral he was going for was a good one, the way it was aesoped was bad.

I didn't like Pinkie Keen the first time I saw it. MLP was too good for straight slapstick. Of course, I needed some of the later episodes to really like Pinkie as a character.

1585502

I think some straight slapstick can be a good thing BUT (and that is a big Celestia sized but) the characters that do slap stick cannot become the only means of slapstick and they cannot only do slapstick.

An episode of Pinkie doing slapstick is fine (think classic Looney Toons). Every episode with her doing slapstick is far too much one note. That I think is an important distinction that some writers need to realize. Pinkie is great for slapstick but due to that she is also good for so much more. Her comedy can make her a very dramatic character as long as you realize she can be multifaceted.

I think they did a decent job with this on "Too Many Pinkie Pies". Pinkie actually shows off her depth paradoxically due to her flanderized copies that show off what some people think Pinkie is. The resolution could have been tweaked but in the end we have a Pinkie episode full of slapstick but also Pinkie showing off her character and some of her traits she has cultivated (such as when she made sure not to bother Dash when they were at the pond where her copies did not care at all).
