I'm Zyr1987 (Rhymes with sir) and I'm currently the only person to write stories about Fleur de Lis to any great extent. I also ship extensively and have been taking to combining the two in my stories

New chapter of "The Return of Mr. Bun" next week. Also, while we're here, a review of "Daring Don't" · 12:23am Dec 8th, 2013

I've finally finished the second part of the current chapter of "The Return of Mr. Bun" last night, and will be sitting on it a few days before I publish it, so I can work out all the kinks (Remember, I don't have a proofreader, so I have to use other methods for working out the kinks). For those wondering, it's around 3/4s of the chapter. The first quarter published due to wanting to get something out after a death in the family.

I'm glad I took so long on it, though, because I came up with several ideas that will make my life easier in the next (last) two chapters. You'll see what they are when you read the chapter and author's notes (though I will admit one of them was probably the biggest no-brainer I could have had in hindsight).

And now for a review (Spoilers!):

Rainbow loves the plot of Daring Do

I found a low quality version on youtube, with commercials, since I don't get the hub, so it took a half hour to watch, but it was worth it. Anyway, Rainbow's excitement for the next Daring Do book felt out of character to me, since, eve with her being as big a fan as she is, we have never seen this sort of behavior from our favorite blue speedster. If it was only the day before, then it would have been fine, but four months out? How does that make sense? Especially since we know that Rainbow knows how to prioritize. Fluttershy's teaching the baby birds how to fly, though, was adorable and the perfect setup for the first gag of the show.

Continuing the priority skewing with the random party Pinkie held for a made-up reason (National random holiday party day or something, which I refuse to complain about, because funny) which Rainbow only finds out about when she goes to Twilight's house four days later. Her finding out about the delay was great fun, especially when Fluttershy lampshades Rainbow's desperation, and the canon contradicting the comics series (Twilight's favorite author being AK Yearling, not Jade Singer) got a great big "YEAH!" from me, because it also means I can safely ignore the one comic that Fleur appears in, which paints her as more, well, full of herself and dismissive of Fluttershy.

Anyway, moving forward, we find them looping around on a map (because funny) in search of AK's house, and seeing Pinkie paint the red stripe on the ground was worth a chuckle or two.

The ransacked house, and their meeting AK, was great, even if I had to throw out my (recently created) headcanon that she and Fluttershy were somehow related due to the lack of recognition on each other's parts, as was the fight and the reveal that AK was Daring. I have to wonder, though, why Daring cooled off the ring after it had been heated in the fire. They wouldn't be able to take the ring if it was still too hot to touch.

Losing the ring and spotting Caballeron was an interesting twist, and Fluttershy's lampshading the mane six falling for the bystander effect (google it) was excellent, though the fact that they didn't help was nicely shown to be a good thing when Rainbow accidentally "helps" Daring get "kidnapped." (The nerdgasm between Twilight and Rainbow was funny, too)

Super Strength Daring appears shortly after the death trap is sprung on her ass, which she defeats be ripping the bricks out of the wall, only to get help from Rainbow thanks to her friends' encouragement.

Daring needing Rainbow's help to defeat Auizotl (or however you spell his name) and the first entry in the new diary were a perfect ending, though I wonder if Rainbow will let Twilight borrow the book that Daring gave her a week in advance
