Another story idea I want to pitch and get feedback on:
"More than Friends"
Rainbow Dash is happy to have Hearts and Hooves day off from work. But she's less happy to spend it alone, while all the other ponies are hooking up around her. It reminds her that she doesn't have a special somepony, and that all too often she feels very alone. But today is a special day - maybe, finally, one of her friends will reveal themselves to be something more?
She starts out by going to Fluttershy's house with some flowers, which Fluttershy presumes are rabbit food. Rainbow Dash beats around the bush a bit before finally asking Fluttershy if there's anything between them. Fluttershy politely explains that she sees dash as a sister, not a lover. Dash puts on a good face, but still runs off to see Twilight.
At Twilight's she returns some books, then starts asking about some very sexy books, which piques Twilight's interest. However, when she asks if Twilight might be up for enacting any of the scenes in the book, Twilight declines. Dash says that she thought maybe there was something between her and Twilight, and Twilight asks, honestly, how Dash could have gotten that impression. Dejected, she trots off to Rarity's.
Dash politely sits through Rarity's tea, but can't even bring herself to ask. Rarity is a bit confused about what's got Dash upset, but she quickly figures it out. She insists she's flattered, but one, she prefers stallions to mares, and two, she's always seen Dash as a close friend, nothing more. Dash tries to play it cool, but she leaves without excusing herself while Rarity is distracted.
In her flight, she sees Applejack. She swoops down and offers to help her buck apples, because they're friends. After some hot, sweaty work, she suggests they shower off, which AJ agrees to. However, when Dash makes her move, AJ freaks out a bit, then apologizes profusely. She explains that she is /very/ straight and that also she didn't know Dash had intimate feelings for her. Dash acts like it's nothing, but still, she takes off in a rush.
Dejected and trying to be alone, Dash is interrupted by Pinkie, who immediately starts trying to cheer her up. Dash is annoyed at first, but when Pinkie starts to get huggy, she tries to get kissy. Pinkie kisses back, but not on the lips, and doesn't get things going. Dash asks Pinkie if they are more than friends and she responds "of course! We're BEST friends!" This, combined with all the other frustration of the day, breaks Dash's heart and she flies off to her cloud house to be alone.
However, she isn't there long before there is a knock on her door. On the doorstep she finds a note directing her to sugar cube corner. When she gets there, she finds that all of her friends are there, and they are (at Pinkie's demand) throwing her a party to let her know she is loved - and also that they are committed to helping her find a special somepony. Fluttershy offers to help Dash be understanding, Twilight offers to help her find someone that's "scientifically perfect for you," Rarity offers clothing advice, Applejack offers "secluded gazebos with no ponies bothering you" and Pinkie offers to be Pinkie. Dash is touched by their commitment to helping her find someone special in her life, and thanks them profusely for making her feel very loved on Hearts and Hooves day.

Yes. This is brilliant. So many stories start off like that and would end it with her hooking up with the last friend she asks. Instead, you're not shipping any of the mane six (because yuck, mane six shipping), but Dash still gets a happy ending and the best friends she could possibly ask for. That's very true to the theme of the show.

I wanted this to be the anti-ship fic. If the girls were gonna ship, they'd ship in-show. But they don't. So clearly, they are Dashie's friends, not her lovers.
But Celestia damn it, they're going to help Dashie get a fillyfriend, if that's what she wants. And they will all be there for her wedding if and when it happens.

But in seriousness, it seems like our stories are fairly different, but they both derive from the same premise of "Pony Falls In Love With Everypony". So this is awkward.

I really can't see why we can't both write something we like. And Dashie isn't really in love with her friends. She's just lonely because she doesn't have anyone special in her life.
1569933 And the moral of my story is going to be similar, except it's more about Rarity's confusing friendly love with romantic love because she's been reading too many trashy novels. Hey, I wish you the best of luck. I'll just be secretly competitive, because that's how I am.
