MLP Episode Script Production · 7:43pm Dec 3rd, 2013

As I mentioned sometime around September, I would be working on writing a script for a whole episode of MLP, based off my fanfic, Be Like Her. During the last day of class (yesterday), we had to put on a production of part of our script. What you'll see here is just over 9 pages of my 31 page script. I will post the entire script itself once I have finished the final draft and submitted it for grading.

Also, here's a bit of me acting in somebody else's script:

My first thought: Lel, Canada.

Anywho, woah! It escaped me how much description goes into professional scripts. Was Doctor Panacea's voice actress accurate? It was nice to see them do a decent enough job, considering the circumstances.

And what was the difference in the scripts such that you guys needed to act out the second video? Why not just read that one out as well (since, obviously, you couldn't act out Be Like Her... funny as the attempt would be)?

Glad you asked! The voice was as accurate as we could get; emphasis of the grading for this part of the course is based on the script itself, and not the production of it (the act of producing is what the prof wanted). The lady who played Panacea did a very great job, though. She told me she used hot Swedish women as a model for the accent.

Regarding the scripts, one is for television, and the other is a standard stage play for theatre. The only way to produce those is to just act them out. Because I didn't have the time, resources, or talent to animate the script--even poorly--and doctoring footage from the show was out of the question, we just sat and read it, since it was an animated script. The descriptions are there for the storyboard artists to create something off; the goal is to paint a vivid picture in as few sentences as possible. Notice I spent almost no time describing the hospital, because it was a "set" used in previous episodes, so they would simply recycle it with the added specifications particular to the scene.

Does that clear everything up? Feel free to ask further questions if I didn't do a good enough job explaining things.
