Seaon 4 is in full swing and I am relieved and inspired. · 8:05am Dec 3rd, 2013
Of all the fanfic writer's fears a new season premiere ranks up there. Not because of the potential for inspiration and depth of character that will make writing you characters easier. That I love.
It's because back story and timelines shift and suddenly your story doesn't fit.
Any Dragonball Z fans in the crowd? Any of you remember 'Tree of Might'? It can't happen in the storyline. Seriously, it can't.
Goku died during the Radditz arc and was revived in time to fight Nappa and Vegeta, and he arrived after Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chaotsu and Piccollo bought it. Chronologically you can't have that little adventure with Tares / Turles landing on planet and all the Z warriors taking on his minions together. It couldn't fit in earlier because Gohan was a kid, and it couldn't happen later because immediately after Vegeta the Planet Namek saga and the Super Saiyan happen and Goku wouldn't have wasted his time Kiao-ken x whatever as his final move against Tares if he could gold up.
The only way the story fits is if you replace the entire Vegeta arc with the OVA.
Replace one of the better DBZ arcs with a 1-2 hour movie that is hardly the pinnacle of storytelling.
That kind of sums up how I feel as I write a story.
That said, I am ecstatic: the Season 4 spoilers and events affect my PONYHAMMER storyline ZERO.
And, for all you guys who love visuals, Castle-maneia is one of my new favorites. That castle and all the armors in it have made my job a heck of a lot easier now that I'm going to practice drawing. I can incorporate the designs raw into my Equestria Divided plans and, since Twilight and co. didn't up and say: 'Oh my gosh, full-body suits of pony armor? We never went to war or used stuff like this!" it means I can leap from Equestria to Space Marine armor in a lot fewer jumps.
Hopefully that'll help me get these next few transition chapters out.
I hope you all are as happy with the way the future is a changing now, if you have any stories or similar experiences feel free to respond with a link to your blog or a post I'd love to read them.
Happy Holidays.
