My opinion of the Season 4 Premiere · 7:01am Nov 26th, 2013
Well, new season everypony. At the recommendation of a friend, I decided to skip rewatching the previous seasons first, and I'm pleasantly surprised with what came up.
First of all, I thought the shading and voices were off by a bit. Nothing big, and I'm probably imagining it, but still noticed. Other than that, I definitely found suitable the improvements to the sound effects(I think there were improvements... maybe?).
As for the Episode, the beginning was funny and quirky, just like the show's always been. Later, with the guards swearing their loyalty to Twilight and the event occurring, despite the funny parts, it was still the same funny adventure as before.
The battle scene between Celestia and Nightmare Moon was my biggest problem (Not to be complaining or anything). It was too much of a shift from not only the episodes earlier events, but also from the show's usual friendly style, even the more serious adventures. I personally enjoyed it (Aside from the part that it messed with a story idea I was planning on to get motivated again and stay fresh with what I write... probably will still do it anyway, still some enjoyment to be gotten out of it), but it can be seen how that might have bothered some others.
The rest of the 2nd episode was really quite similar to the season 1 premiere, only with a bit more character development and a different twist on the journey and ending, with that little twist with Discord at the end. Funny, since he earlier denied being responsible for it. From there onwards it was as you would expect.
Honestly, I miss the style of the earlier seasons (1 and 2, 1 especially), but this is good, as the loss of an important part of themselves while still holding together their friendship stronger than ever before shows that change can only improve their relationship with each other, overcoming any obsticle in the way?
I liked it all overall however, and I'll probably get back to watching the earlier seasons later, maybe in a day or two. I do look forward to a new, full length season 4!
