Writer's Workshop: class one lesson one
Creating a Story
Alright, alright find a seat class is in session. Now I woul- Hey, you in the back sit the fuck down! Thank you, now I would like to welcome you to the first workshop of many. Here I’ll and a few others will be your teachers, guides, and mentors into the art in making a story. Today’s lesson is going to be a simple one, so stop your complaining. Now I know you all think that you can make a story just by typing a few words. Well you’re wrong.
No to make a real story there are a few more elements that are at play. As we all know that there’s a universal idea for a story’s structure, and this begin:
-The into
-The body
-Rising action
-Climax
-End
All of these elements are what makes a story well...a story. And that setup is all fine and dandy, but for longer stories, such as epics and novels, more elements are being used. Most of you should know at least one of the elements as Character Development.
The other elements include:
-Major events
-Downtime (where character development happens)
-Side events
-Character’s thoughts and feelings
-Foreshadowing
Now that’s all for now, but before you leave I have an extra credit assignment for you all. Head on over to Lolsternater’s classroom for more detailed lesson on character’s development.
