And It Just Keeps Getting Better! · 3:50pm Nov 16th, 2013
H'okay people,
Not exactly sure how I got so lucky, but good things just keep coming my way. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm as pleased as a pigeon showered in motherf*****g breadcrumbs to present my second piece of fanart:
This little beauty was done by the ever fantastic Captain Pudge Muffin. Now, just take a second and look at it. Bask in it. There are an infinite number of wonderful things about this piece, so I'll just take a moment to note some of my favorites. That lighting. Lord have mercy, the atmosphere is perfect. Running through a rainy canyon, darkness so dense you can't see your hands held in front of you. Then... BAM! A flash of lightning provides just enough illumination to hint at the world of nightmares creeping along just outside the light.
But even in all of that, they don't give up. Graves is a soldier, and he's not giving up without a fight. Rifle in hand, teeth gritted, and gunmetal grey eyes dancing in the electric light, he's not giving them an inch that isn't paid ten times over in blood. And Rarity, oh, that Rarity. She's not cowering behind him as cover. She's no damsel in distress. Even though she's frightened and rightly so, she stands back to back with the marshal, watching his six even as she keeps an eye out for their avenue of escape. Of course she's frightened and out of her element, but in no way does that make her helpless.
I love this piece. I'm sharing it with you all. Then once I'm done sharing it, I'm changing it to the official cover art for Untangling the Knot. I wanted to say something in that story, and Captain Pudge Muffin put those words to form. Really, there's nothing I can say except that this is what the story is.
And there you have it folks, my second piece of fanart: I have plurals now! Woop! As always, if anyone is interested on exploring the world of arts and wishes to consult, PM send me an email at TheJourneyofGraves@gmail.com. Once again, big thanks to Captain Pudge Muffin for this spectacular work, and I hope to hear from you all soon!
Sincerely,
GentlemanJ
If I could art, then I would.
My only (slight) criticism (Which mean F[BUT SOME APPLES]K all as I can't art.) is that I'm sure his spell rifle was described as being faded/dented or such. I would say about his clothes as well, but we all know Rarity did some touch up work on them.
Final point, that is amazing! It captures the scene perfectly, and makes for an awesome story cover!
Whoa, that's awesome
On a sidenote: This art style reminds me of the cover illustrations for some stories I've read in my childhood, nice to see this style isn't dead
If I had the ability to create such a masterpiece I would. Hopefully the next will be when graves confronts the blood magic user from your most recent entry. I wan to to see those gun metal eyes filled with hatred and malice! The look of pure fear on his prey's face when he beats him to apulp and heals him so he can just do it again! (That doesn't sound too creepy does it?)
I'm actually surprised it's taken this long for you to get fan art.
Personally, I've been waiting for the day I can turn this series into a movie.
Perfect..
for a lack of a better word.
That's some awesome fan art. I'm glad someone else is drawing some fan art of this.
Plurals are awesome.
Funny. I imagined him looking more like John Marston from Red Dead Redemption.

A picture is worth a thousand words... And this has perfect written all over it.
For those who want to see the fullsized pic.

Funny. I always thought the design of the spell gun was more akin to the Winchester repeater.
