Truth be told, I've had this one on the backburner since the airing of 'A Friend In Deed'. I was watching the episode at my usual brony hang-out, with the GTPlanet Bronies, when we got to the scene of Pinkie barging into the Library. As you might recall, Rainbow Dash was just nonchalantly reading of to the side. We all began to joke about Twilight and RD acting suspiciously natural and quiet, and how Pinkie actually interrupted something between them.
It snowballed from there and formed into the idea that gave birth to this new fic I'm posting. I'll be needing your help with this one, guys, since I've never written anything in first-person. If you see a glaring mistake, don't be afraid to leave me a comment or a message; it's the only way I'll ever improve!
Anyways, don't fret for 'The Ballad,' next chapter's coming in as well! I just really needed to get this one out of my system, that way I can have two stories at the same time that I have absolutely no time to write for!

Having other stories to write is always fun when you run out creative energy on your main story.
I know the feeling of getting an idea, and that idea not letting you alone until you've written it out. I have non-pony stories of my own that I haven't touched in months because THESE FREAKIN' PONIES will not leave me alone!
So, yeah. Looking forward to any new stuff.
All right, I am okay with this. Hell, if you're work on The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle is any indication, this other one ought to be good.

Funnily enough, I'm 100% certain that Ballad wouldn't have made it through the new regulations. It was short, and it was one of the first things I ever wrote, and didn't have an editor... Eeyup.

83686 They do actually. Also not uncommon to see a really good one shot get through. If they like a story enough and is seen as well written it'll pass. Btw does anyone not use GoogleDocs anymore? not that FimFic is bad (pretty nice and all) but it's good to give people options too like they used to do in the earlier days. Do up a gdocs version too grave and submit to EqD! XD
Also add some original art for it too, people love it when you submit art with a story :P
(no one likes hunting down art for a post of a story, especially if it's a really short one.)
And seriously who is turning away those awesome fics your mentioning? Got any examples of ones that got thrown out? Just curious.
I wonder what qualifications you'd need to be a pre-reader for EqD... I should check that out some time.
85781 At the time I wrote that I was under the impression that "It's not a Cold and Dark Place" had been rebuked, so I was kinda miffed. I was happily proved wrong when the author said they just sent it back for a few edits and then published it.
Having said that, and I don't mean this with any sort of disrespect, I have a second-hand experience with a fic that was sent back for edits and once the edits were done it was made clear that they were not going to pass it regardless. While the decision is theirs, I can't help but feel it could have been handled better... but, nobody's perfect.
