It was indeed an awesome episode. I ended up liking Cadence and Queen Chrysalis... I didn't have much expectations, but they shut me up. Shining Armor? I could punch that guy in the face... I don't know why. And I still don't like that they pulled him out of the blue... but now... somepony should write a Chrysalis/Twilight ship fic!
Other than assuming Twilight told the others about her brother offscreen somewhere, it was awesome. Though they didn't destroy the enemy which means it can come back!
Also, is it me or did the new enemies explain Story of the Blanks way better than Cutie Pox?

I was honestly pretty skeptical about this finale because it had a wedding theme, and I absolutely HATE everything that has a wedding theme, but this finale was nothing short of amazing.
It's simple, people.
It was an outdoors scene, shot at night.
Coming from a cinematography background, I can say with some authority that colour balance is impossible to get right in such lighting conditions. There's no windows to gel and you can't control the colour temperature of the cheap-shit floodlights they ALWAYS hire for shoots like this. So you do your best to match the footage to the general tone of the indoors scenes later on in post, but small highlights, such as Vinyl's BLATANTLY red eyes, always end up looking slightly off.
And especially nowadays, after this silly "digital film revolution" crap, what with all the production companies invariably buying or leasing the cheapest 4K digital film cameras they can get their hands on... God DAMN I miss real film. Now THAT you could colour-grade properly. Nowadays someone behind the camera looks at an iPhone screen and the light sensors detect it and go all batshit and totally chuck off your gamut readings.
Anyway, rant over. They should have hired a soundstage and shot the ending scene of the finale on that, and then Vinyl's eyes would have been properly reproduced. I guess the budget got all blown-out on building that ridiculously-huge cave set. If you're dead-set on going digital anyway, just green-screen the damn thing and farm it out to ILM or Weta.
