Just realized that it's been almost a month since I last posted a story, and I wanted to let you all know that I haven't given up writing yet.. In fact, I'm in the middle of planning out the fifth chapter of the six-part prologue. I'm doing it this way so that I can properly introduce you all to the new Mane6 (or should that be old mane6 considering this is a prequel?), rather than just dump you all into the maelstrom of chaos that will make up the majority of the beginning of the meat of the story. I want you all to like these characters as much as I do (however unlikely that is), if not feel comfortable with them. I was also making the backstory and timeline so I can figure up all the motivations in the story as well as the hows and whyfors, even if that information never comes up. Better to have it and not need it, than the other way around.
I'll also be trying something else new with this story (I mean, besides actually planning it out, that's new too), but I don't want to give too much away. Suffice it to say that it will make updates more sparse (say, every two weeks or so instead of every week, possibly), but I hope that you will all feel it a worthwhile exchange.
That's pretty much all for this post. I just wanted to let y'all know that I am working on the story, and it will be out... eventually. Anywho, the underappreciated story of the post this time is Dungeons and Ponies. It's one of the better constructed D'n'D adaptations that I've ever read, and as a bonus, includes game stats at the end of the first six chapters. Best of all, it's not 4th edition rules! I await you all shouting "NERD!" at me.
Glad to see your still around.
DnD 3-3.5 is amazing, I don't touch the 4th edition.
I know you're alive. Hi, Wrabbit!
Can't wait for more of your stories.
On a side note I feel like I'm the only person alive that actually liked 4th edition.
Why would I? I'd pick 3.5e over 4e any day.

Actually, I play Pathfinder. It's a step above 3.5, and simply blows 4ed out of the water. 4ed was too much like an pen and paper MMO, and felt dumbed down to me. Every class was pretty much a wizard, and the wizard had their options severely limited. The great thing about them was their versatility, and 4ed took that away. There were some things that I did like about 4ed, such as minions, and the Warmaster class (can't recall off hand if that was the name, but they did all kinds of buffs, debuffs, and move the combatants around on the map).

Hi, Halfelf! Guess what! I didn't point people towards the same story this time!

Oh noes, what a shame...

I never tried Pathfinder. From what I understand its like a supercharged version of 3.5 Maybe sometime.
1474312 I have been trying to move my group on to playing pathfinder but some of them are stubborn as anything.

I don't disagree with the flaws you mentioned. Honestly, if Wizards had simply created a book of "advanced" rules that added more options to the classes as well as some of the more unforgiving tricks of the monsters(like attribute damage) then I think they could have satisfied several camps of DnD fans. You would have had the core books to use as an easy way to get people into RPGs and then moved onto the advanced rules to spice things up.
Sadly that never happened and they just left 4e to die. Instead we're getting DnD Next...
