    Oh, look, a chapter

Oh, hey, I actually managed to squeeze out a chapter with the usual strategy of "pulling an all-nighter with bloodymindedness and chocolate." And I actually kinda like it.

Apologies to Letedwend for not showing it to him first, since he's actually the pre reader and all.

    Okay, that didn't work

Very well then. First of all, I am very sorry. I really wanted to get it done, but it was a bit harder than expected. The thing is, I need to move on from establishing conflict, and start working towards resolutions, and I'm not really sure how to handle that. I really need to expand my skill sets, which means that progress so far has been way slower than I want it to be.

    Let's do this. Again.

I got a laptop with high speed internet on my desk, a Red Bull and chocolate bar in my hand and a Discworld novel fresh in my memory. From my lips to God's ears, there will be a new chapter of Dude, We're Ponies in the next 24 hours.

The people at Equestria Daily are rather cool people

I take it that, whoever might be reading fanfiction about a girly cartoon series must be some kind of 'internet person'. As an internet person, you are probably familiar with Duke Nukem Forever, and you may have heard how some stores accepted ten year old pre-orders, basically giving the game away for free because they were just that nice. That kind of thing sort of happened to me just now.

So I got a response from Equestria Daily · 8:05am Apr 17th, 2012

Hey everyone! As you might know if you ever read these blog posts, I recently sent Dude, We're Ponies to Equestria Daily. It was pretty nerve-wrecking, awaiting judgement at the hands of an actual critic, but thankfully, one of the pre-readers was so kind to pick it up. I got the response this morning.

In summary, the pre-reader said said that the story was solid and quite fun, despite some roughness in the early chapters, and that he'll be recommending this for the posting queue.

Well, that's nice I suppose. Some recognition is always good and all that, but I need to keep a good perspective. I shouldn't let this get to my head, keep my feet on the ground and who the flying fuck am I kidding?

SWEET MOTHER OF YES YES YES! I AM SO HAPPY I COULD DIE!

You guy have no idea what this means to me. For the longest time, I've been looking for something that I would be any good at. Currently, I'm an autistic college drop-out waiting for the government to find me a suitable job. These circumstances haven't done much good for my already terrible self-image, so I was pretty dang depressed. After months of boredom, I decided to give this whole creative writing thing a try.

And now, I can look in the mirror and say "You are the author of Dude, We're Ponies! Hundreds, possibly thousands of people have and will enjoy your story! how many people can say that?" It's not much, of course, but it's the first time I have actually something positive to say about myself.

I would like to thank my pre-reader, MrMusicalPony, who really helped me out fixing my writing. Also thanks to Chill Mists, that took over the job when MrMusicalPony was dealing with all kinds of crap in his life. And another thank you for CenturionFox13, who donated one kick-ass cover image.

But more then anything, I would like to thank you, dear reader. Every chapter so far has been a fight with my inner critic that hated every letter I typed with a burning passion. If it wasn't for your encouragements, I would have never been able to go beyond the first chapter, and I'd still be sitting home alone being depressed. You gave me the strength to keep going, and I regret that I have nothing to offer in return besides the knowledge that you liked Dude, We're Ponies before it was cool. Seriously, thank you so much.

But the journey isn't over yet. My audience will soon become a lot bigger and pickier. I, a decently-sized fish in a small pond, will soon be thrown into the ocean, where I will be compared to whales like Through The Eyes Of Another Pony, The Best Night Ever, Fallout Equestria, and so many, many more. But I feel that I can do it. I will continue, and from my lips to Gods ears: I will not let you down.

Again, thank you so much. See you all when I got something interesting to blog about!
