Flash Sparkle Writing Event!

OK so this was posted on EQD:

And so I wrote the following, as per the prompt:

"And what's your name?" said Twilight Sparkle, bending down to look into the eyes of the little filly.

"Paige Turner!" said the cheerful young earth pony. "And I love books!"

"Me too!" said Twilight Sparkle. "What was the last book you read?" As she spoke, she went to the bookshelf, pulling out a few young foal's books.

Paige turned her eyes to the floor, embarrassed. "Actually, I can't read yet," she said. "My mommy and daddy read to me. But they let me look at the pictures!"

Twilight frowned. "It's great that your mom and dad read to you," she said. "But if you could read by yourself, you could even enjoy books without any pictures!"

"I know," said Paige. "But it's hard!"

"Not if we start you off with the right book," said Twilight. Examining her shelf, she pulled out an old, well-loved book. She blew the dust off the cover and then presented it to Paige. "It's called 'Princess Peachy and the Perfect Party'." Huddling up to Paige, she opened the book to the first page and began to read aloud. "Princess Peachy was preparing for a party."

"She looks like Princess Cadence!" said Paige, smiling at the picture.

"You know, Princess Cadence used to be my foalsitter," said Twilight. "But that's a story for another day." She turned the page, smiling as she saw Paige light up at the words. "Princess Peachy was going to a party. So she sat down in front of her mirror and began to file her clippity-cloppers and tree buckers. She brushed her parasprite whip and put mascara around her pony-peepers. She preened her flutter-flappers and polished her magic zapper. She even powdered her whiffermuzzle!"

As Twilight read, Paige focused on the words. She tried to sound them out, the letters and words familiar, but the pairing of them so difficult. She blinked a bit, then turned to Twilight. "Can...Can I try now?" she asked.

"Of course!" said Twilight, pushing the book in front of Paige.

"She...went...into...her...party...room..." said Paige. Each word came slowly, but as she began to recognize the words and sounds, her pace slowly picked up. "All of her friends were waiting for her. They came in and hugged her right in her hug zone. It made her heart leap in her wub zone!"

"Very good!" said Twilight, smiling. "In fact, it's so good that...Well, just look for yourself!" Twilight pointed to Paige's tushie, smiling.

"My cutie mark!" said Paige, smiling in delight. It was an open book, perched on several others. "I can't believe it! My cutie mark!"

Twilight smiled. "Why don't you keep that book?" she said. "I've already read it. In fact, it was the first book I ever read. Just like you!"

"Oh princess, you're the best!" said Paige, hugging Twilight and then moving towards the door, "Princess Peachy" cuddled close to her chest. "Can...I come back and read more with you tomorrow?"

"Of course you can Paige!" said Twilight. "You can come and read with me any time you like."

It's 200 words over limit but meh. I like it!
