If this is confirmed in season 4 (or any season for that matter) , it seems that Twilight got the royal shaft here. For something that was built up throughout season 3, I'd thought they'd give more time to devlop Twilight's role before making everybody an alicorn. I mean there's thousands of reasons why the mane six should all be alicorns like...eh..or...umm.
Still if it does happen I'd be happy to see how it goes.I have faith in the writers...most of the time.
Been my headcanon since the end of season 2 that they'd all be immortal alicorns. It's just... right.
... and with this, i am strongly thinking i should turn my long thought of 'sequel' into a standalone, just so i get the concept out before THIS hits.

When the first omen of the First Jossing came in the form of a large alicorn Twilight in the convention center, I knew deep in my heart I wanted it to happen but I was afraid to hope.
It seemed inevitable and natural for Twilight to become an alicorn. Now I am just scared to imagine the rest of the mane 6 as alicorns it does not seem natural. We'll see. If they do make them alicorns it had better be after an epic journey.

No, not really. The thing about people who truly love each other, whether as friends or in any other way, is that something which raises up one of them raises up all of them. Twilight's ascension won't have diminished the other five (and you can bet the apple farm they'll have a few episodes about that very theme). And if any or all of the others ascend, they won't diminish her in turn.

On the one hand I absolutely despise this and it really feels like half assed writing... on the other hand at least we can get people to stop using McCarthy's tweet as evidence of Twi's mortality.
In the end the two feelings kinda nullify each other out to leave a rather bitter feeling of resignation... *melancholic sigh*

After everything they've accomplished, I think they deserve it just as much as Twilight did.

yeah, I have the exact opposite opinion.
The thing that irked me the most about Twilights ascension was the fact that it was ONLY Twilight that ascended. The show is an ensemble cast with no character more important than the other. They each had their own episodes, their own struggles and their own lessons and the show taught the lesson of how working together an helping each other is better than trying to go it alone. By having Twilight ascend solo it undermines that message by raising her above her friends and reducing them to mere stepping stones on her rise to power. Less "Friendship is Magic" and more "Twilight is special"
By having them all ascend it reinforces the notion that they could achieve more together than they could alone; working together, struggling together, learning together and ultimately rising together.
All for one and one for all.

My thoughts on this issue as they occured:
"Hm? Wait, Fluttershy is the next one to become an alicorn? I thought for sure the next one would be Rainbow Dash or Applejack, but not Flutter-wait Fluttershy is friends with Discord now yeah nevermind he'd totally do that."

1433498 Not saying the other members of the mane 6 haven't worked hard, but when you take something momentous, like becoming a princess, and then give it to everyone, it devalues that achievement. It's inflation, and sure the other members of the cast have done a lot, but yes...Twilight IS special.
The mane 6 are also special, but all in their own unique way. I don't want the mane 6 to all have the same achievement of becoming a princess/alicron. I want them to have their own unique success, without taking away from the others success.
Not to mention we've also had build up for Twilight's rise. Throughout Season 1-3 we've seen Twilight growing more powerful, wiser, more honest, and everything in-between. Sure her friends have also worked hard, but the story hasn't been building them up for this.
I really really really really really really really really hope this isn't true. I trust the writer's enough to at make it work, but from a lore standpoint it makes me cringe.
Fluttercorn could be interesting at that, in many ways more interesting that Twilicorn. The Goddess of Nature, able to touch and (to a certain extent) control any sub-Pony animal?
The level of cute would be lethal!

For what it's worth, I think it's going to turn out that all the Mane Six are over-powered for a reason - they're all potential alicorns. Celestia and Luna have been waiting for a very long time for bearers of the Elements to come along who can finally take over from them and let them finally rest from their own labours.

Twilight is really the only one who did anything, the rest kinda just showed up and listened to whatever she told them to do. Fluttershy reforming discord being the only one that I can think of off the top of my head that Twilight didn't directly do/lead.

Personally, I always thought that Pinkie Pie was the next most likely alicorn after Twilight, mostly because of her reality-warping powers. Maybe The Powers That Be choked on the thought of writing goddess!Pinkie.
That said, Fluttershy is a nice 'dark horse' candidate. Especially, when you consider how effective the Stare is and the way she seems to be able to communicate with anything that is capable of communication.
