A man who doesn't write half of his stories half as often as he should like, and writes less than half of them half as well as they deserve.

I apologize, both retroactively and in advance. · 8:58pm Oct 15th, 2013

It's been over six months since I've put out either a new story or an update to an existing one, and that's pretty crappy of me. Reasons range across everything from college to lack of motivation to an increase in group work here on the site—I administrate two reviewing groups (one of which I might even be taking the reigns on soon), and just joined a third on top of them. I've been writing when I can (next chapter of To Glimpse a Wider World, a continuation of Plainswalker, a continuation of Gout of Flame, and many new things that aren't ready to be talked about yet), but not enough to constitute what I'd call a full chapter of anything.

Until just recently, that is.

And here's where the "apology in advance" part comes in: I don't actually like it all that much. "BP," you might say, "I could've had two thirds of a shiny new baby by now, and what you're finally putting out is something you don't even like?" Answer: pretty much. Sorry, again.

The story is a little Slice of Life from the perspective of Flash Sentry, and it was just about the hardest thing I've ever had to write. It was written for a little round robin–ish collaboration, and I wound up with not a whole lot of choice as to its subject matter. Details on the collaboration will follow in a subsequent blog once the story's actually out (likely later this week, I think—depends on when everyone else finishes), but suffice it to say that I had to write a story from Flash Sentry's perspective wherein he meets Big Macintosh and either friendshipping or romance ensues. As is, the story only has friendshipping, but if I were ever to actually feel like continuing it (the ending is open for continuation, as seems to be becoming the usual trend in things I write), romance would happen.

So yes, that's that. As for things people are likely to actually care about, To Glimpse a Wider World is probably the next thing that will see an update, as the one for that is closest to done right now. I don't actually intend to post any continuation for Plainswalker until I have all of the rest of the story done, so that might be a while.

I hope that when it comes out, you happen to like the new story more than I liked writing it. See you next time, folks.

A new story is better than no story at all!

Debatable. If there was no new story, folks could at least imagine I was working on something they're more likely to enjoy than what they're about to get.

Though, hell, I'm probably talking it down way more than it deserves. I always feel this way about things I just finished; this one was just more restrictive on top of it all, so I feel how I usually do times ten.
