I am going to regret this. (read: random request thread!) · 5:18am Oct 13th, 2013
SO.
I haven't done anything in a while. I should do things.
And thus, I turn to you horrible internet people, and ask "What kind of things should I do?" Which is to say, I'm putting out an open call for all, like, three of my internet fans to make various fan-ficcy requests, because that's how the internet works, or something. In short, inspire me, jerks. Throw random ass ideas at me like so much rotten fruit, and I may just compost said fruit in order to grow beautiful flowers or potatoes or whatever.
But yeah, is there some random idea/ship/setting you think I should turn my attentions to? Let me know! I make no promises, but I might have some fun fooling around with it. Like, I understand FlutterDash is A Thing...which is also something I haven't touched yet. HMMM.
Just don't try to make me write something gross or stupid or whatever, because that will just make me throw cans and bottles at you.
Pipsqueak is abducted by aliens the week before his birthday. Pinkie Pie and Luna build a makeshift spacecraft to go after them and save Pipsqueak, Pinkie Pie because she doesn't want him to miss his awesomest first birthday party in Ponyville, and Luna because she's taken a liking to the colt that called her his favorite Princess.
Thus begins a journey of wacky adventure and swashbuckling spacefaring across the galaxy.
This fandom needs more Twilestia. Also any shipping involving Fluttershy. Do with it as you will.
While searching through the Canterlot archives, it is discovered that technically the only things that make the Princesses...princesses, are their crowns. That is, whomever is wearing the crown becomes the royalty, regardless of their lineage or ability to lead. Hijinks ensue, possibly with Gummy.
Of course, a (comedic?) TwiJack fic wouldn't be hated upon by this lowly reader...

Show us your take of how Shining Armor and Cadence became a couple!
Sure Kindnesses Reward was pretty much perfect, but c'mon the world needs more Flixie

I dunno, I just picked up issue 11 of the FiM comic that goes into this, and damn if it isn't done hilariously perfect. Might just let that one slide. :)
We see the actual Great Butterfly Migration Dash alluded to in Dragon Quest!
Flutterjack > Flutterdash
Of course, Rarijack > Flutterjack :B
You are one of my favorite authors when it comes to zippy, fun, character-driven stories that have a great sense of humor but an equally sincere sense of Heart (which, I suspect, is why you are also my #1 favorite RariJack author on the site), so the opportunity to pitch an idea at you and see just what you'll do with it is too good to resist.
Admittedly, it sounds like you're looking to go outside your comfort zone and try things you haven't already done, so tempted as I am to indulge myself 'n' ask for some fluffy RariJack scenario or other I instead offer you these thoughts, assembled with what I hope is just the right mixture of randomness and coherency.
* Rarity, defeating a powerful Monster simply through the power of her Fashion Prowess.
* Fluttershy's very first time out on Nightmare Night.
* And, my eternal favorite: the girls somehow end up with their Pony Types shuffled around, i.e. Dash as an Earth Pony, Applejack as a Pegasus, etc. I realize "Magical Mystery Cure" kind of steals the thunder on that a bit, but I consider the ideas distinct enough to still give it a go.

Heh! It seems like it's a really, really fun story, but it just doesn't match my mental image of the events...
Okay, how about something with Zecora? She's one of my favorite characters, but her dialog is such a pain to write, so I'm taking the opportunity and try to hoist the burden onto someone else.
For some reason*, Rarity spends less and less time designing new clothes. One day she arrives home, finding a changeling in place of her sewing machine...
It turns out her trusty sewing machine was a changeling all along, and her love for fashion fed it - but now that she got a life (hurr hurr), this love became insufficient to sustain the changeling's disguise.
(If you want to spiral things out of control, it can turn out that all of the Mane Six's favorite objects were actually changelings; Twilight's longest checklist, RD's favorite Daring Do novel, Angel Bunny (?), Bloomberg...)
*I wouldn't like this reason to be shipping - but you know what, you're one of the few people who proved to be able to write shipping stories I actually like, so...
Twilight and Applejack make a bet: Twilight can't use magic for a whole day, or else she'll be helping in Sweet Apple Acres for a whole month. No magic. If she wins, then Applejack has to read 10 books hoof-chosen by Twilight, and then write an essay about them (what is harder: the life of a farmer or the life of a student?)
And of course, the day Twilight can't use magic just happens to be the day the ursa major attacks Ponyville. And Trixie returns. And Discord feels like being funny again. And parasprites. And Fluttershy's critters are out of control and running throught the city. But Twilight is DETERMINED to NOT use magic at all. Sadly, the Elements of Harmony technically count as magic. Applejack snarking ensues.
Could we ever have too much Shining Armour/Cadence/Chrysalis?
Probably we could - but how can we hope to ever solve a problem that so little progress has been made in creating?
