Time to sharpen the ol' resume...

So when my boss's boss asked me to come to an unscheduled meeting in a few minutes, in a conference room near the front door, I saw the writing on the wall and prudently emailed myself a zipped up copy of the notes I'd been taking for the past year.

    Mawwiage...

I got married to @ZephonTsol on Pi Day, March 14, 2014. The reason I haven't posted sooner is that I was kinda waiting on everybody to send in their photos... buuuut that seems to be taking longer than I'd like to delay.

    Quick thought

If Princess Luna was renamed "Nightmare Moon" after her bitterness and jealousy transformed her... and in the comics, Rarity was possessed by that same dark power... shouldn't she be called "Conflict Diamond"? Y'know, like from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog?

    The ring.

Today, after a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with his family, my wuffie proposed to me.

    I said yes.

His ring was delayed and won't make it to shipping until after we get home. As for mine, well...

Terrarium · 5:01pm Oct 6th, 2013

So, as many of you might know already, the 1.2 patch for Terraria dropped Tuesday (or for us Pacific timezoners, late Monday evening), releasing a MASSIVE content update including hundreds of items and several new biomes. I started an entirely new character, theming the coloring on Twilight Sparkle because I planned to take advantage of the new early-game magic gear available. The only thing I took from pre-1.2 worlds was a Lucky Horseshoe (because I dislike falling damage) and a GPS which I didn't really use much but took because it's in the patch notes that Depth Meters are no longer craftable.

Very early on, I figured out that my world had the new Crimson biome, because the Demon Altar I found looked red and had eyeballs instead of purple with spikes. After adventuring for a while in wooden armor, (3 armor value for not having to venture underground at all!) I decided to look up how to make this mage gear. Ah, so it requires Silk to make a Robe, then gemstones to upgrade it and more gems to make a staff. Okay. Fine. So I do have to venture underground a bit. Since Diamond robe and staff were the best stats, I ended up themed more like Rarity... but there are Dyes you can apply to make your appearance shaded a bit differently. (Currently I have one Violet and one Blue dye, several others stockpiled, and a stock of dye-making materials.)

So with my Slow Diamond Staff and Diamond Robe (and iron helm and pants) I explored the Ice biome, found the new Dungeon, and grumbled that the Crimson ended up being at the far left edge of the world, between the ocean and the Jungle. And rejoiced that floating island chests are no longer locked, as it gave me a (severely OP for that point in the game) Starfury which I proceeded to abuse the heck out of to discover caves. Oh, and I also mined the clouds for a future Cloudsdale. Because I can, with this patch.

I followed my usual trick of saving up Heart Crystals once I hit 180 so I'd be able to pop almost to max health before having to face the Eye. Once I did though... I ended up having a Jungle Hat and Pants to add to my Diamond Robe, and that plus the Slow Diamond Staff allowed me to take on Eye of Cthulhu with ease. I'd intended to summon one as the auto-summon was taking place (has a chance to happen once you exceed 200 health) so I could fight two at once... but I ended up bringing the first one almost down to zero by the time the second one spawned. I ended up fighting the Eye a total of four times before my buff potions wore off and I ran out of Suspicious Looking Eyes.

With this victory under my belt (or robe), I headed for the Crimson, and beat the Brain of Cthulhu two or three times without buff potions, then went to the Dungeon and beat Skeletron. May I just say, the addition of Ropes makes arena creation MUCH quicker! Also, it seems like I'm getting more Wood from each tree, even though fewer items drop--it's like it's consolidating the numbers of wood pieces into fewer stacks of more, with the overall effect of more wood per tree dropping.

So far this world has: Tin instead of Copper, Iron as before (the alternative is Lead), Silver as before (the alternative is Tungsten), Platinum instead of Gold, and Crimtane instead of Demonite (because of the Crimson randomly replacing the Corruption). Not in hardmode yet, so I don't know if any of the hardmode ores will be replaced, but there's a 7/8 chance at least one of them will.

Also, Pinkie Pie is in my world.
