I have to say, some of my authorial spark vanished over summer. I don't know why, but it distressed me to no end. Until, of course, I realized what it provided me with: a clear mind.
I look back on my now one-year-old story and sigh, remembering the days of innocence and creative output. At least I got stuff written back then. Of course, I was new to the whole thing, and dove in, headfirst. I had an idea of the end, and the beginning, but not of the middle, so I piddled around, fleshing him out more and more.
Nowadays, I look back and see one of my still-personal favorite stories for what it was: A marred wreck, but ripe with concept and ideas. So, with a semi-heavy heart, I have made an overwhelming decision: The Artificer needs to be re-written, completely.
Now, before you shout "Rennoc! I thought the story was fine!" or "Yes! One less eyesore to mar our website," let me lay down a few things. I'm going to keep a number of the core characters, and I'm going to try and preserve their personalities, but an enormous amount of story and plot is going to be re-woven.
Unfortunately, this means that a whole lot of time is going to be spent on this project, and that means updates will come even slower than before.
In addition, I'm looking at getting new cover art, and I'm going to need some additional time to worry about silly things like classwork, but, if all goes according to plan, there might be a surprise at the end of each chapter.
Hopefully, I can keep up with my writing. And if I do, then I'll see you all on the other side of the page, smiling away!
