So, there is officially no freaking way I'm gonna get this story to 50,000 words by month's end. Frankly, I don't even know if it'll reach that length at all.
I'm still basically stumbling half blind through the misty forest of imagination, trying to follow the path of this tale as it winds through the undergrowth. I like that metaphor. Poetic and descriptive.
This next bit I'm on is at about the halfway mark, using 2,000 words as my minimum chapter length. My problem with it, which may or may not be a problem, is that I feel I'm losing the sad feel I was going for. The tonal shift bothers me, but doesn't surprise me much given the characters in the scene.
So, returning to my forest metaphor, I happened upon a rise from which I caught a glimpse of different clearings at the end of the path. The outcomes are many, but most are in the same general areas. There's the vaguely optimistic, the heart-breakingly depressing, the dark and violent with sequel hook, and the vague ending of vague vagueness. I know not yet to which I shall come, but I shall arrive there eventually, as ka wills it.
Thanks for reading, both the story and my pointless blog posts. Long days and pleasant nights my friends.
