Theory and Speculation: Alicorns

Hello, everypony! I would like to welcome you to a new series; Theory and Speculation! This is completely different from my other series, "Season Four and Beyond Theories". Whereas SFBT talks about future theories and character development, this series talks about the past and backstories of characters.

Now, in this post, I will refer to bronycurious(Now referred to as Tommy Oliver on YouTube) while adding a few theories of my own. Now let's started!

Question #1: Just where they hay did Luna and Celestia come from?!
In Hearth's Warming Eve, it said that the tribes existed BEFORE Celestia and Luna ruled. It is safe to assume that Discord wasn't around either, because as stated by Celestia in Return of Harmony Part 1, she and Luna overthrew him, and we saw no sign of him in Hearth's Warming Eve. But, I'll get to that later. This is what I think happened;

- The three tribes of ponies, the pegasi, the unicorns and the earth ponies, lived in disharmony for several generations. But, after discovering Equestria and reaching a certain level of harmony, the tribes merged together and worked to create a new civilization. I believe that a unicorn and a pegasus had several children together and created the first two naturally created Alicorns, Celestia and Luna(probably with other siblings who did not end up the same way). The reason I believe this is because in a family/relation post on Wiki, it stated that Prince Blueblood is Celestia's nephew probably fifty times removed. Meaning, that Celestia and Luna had a brother and or sister who was a unicorn or capable of giving birth to a unicorn. Also, it wouldn't be the first time for two different types of ponies to get together. You know how Mr. and Mrs.Cake have unicorn and pegasus family members? Well, I don't know if you notice, but they're EARTH ponies. Granted, the pegasus and unicorn family members could be married into the family, but then how would Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake have gotten their unicorn and pegasus genes?

I believe that at one point between the creation of Equestria and Discord's defeat that the Elements of Harmony were created. However, I do not have enough evidence to figure out when and how they were created. I could go into storyteller mode and speculate, speculate, speculate, but I think that might be just a TAD much.

At one point, Discord took advantage of the adjusting citizens of Equestria and took over. I believe that he may have taken the unicorns' ability to make the sun and moon rise away from them, but Luna and Celestia were not affected by this because they were a new race of pony. It is also because of this that Luna and Celestia are held in such high regard BECAUSE of this ability.

During their fight with Discord, it is stated that Luna and Celestia used the Elements of Harmony to defeat them, meaning that they each are one of the original holders of the Elements. Whether or not there were other holders is unknown and again, speculation, speculation, speculation.

Question#2: Are Alicorns immortal?

-Well, yes and no. Let me explain why.

We all saw Twily turn into Alicorn- there's no point in denying it. Then there's Cadence- it is stated in the Crystal Heart comic book that Cadence was originally a pegasus turned into an alicorn because of her understanding of the magic of love. But, what does that have to do with immortality?

It is said by one of the shows writers that Twilight does not outlive her friends. That could mean several things;

-Twilight dies
-The other members of the Mane Six become immortal
-Twilight isn't immortal

The last one, in my opinion, is WAY more reasonable than the other two. My theory is that ponies MADE into alicorns aren't immortal, but natural born ones ARE.

But, I think there is more to Luna and Celestia's 1000 year reign.

-They age slower than regular ponies.

This would make some sort of sense, because why else would Celestia go to the trouble of coronating Twilight? Maybe she knew her and her sister's time was coming and that she needed a capable heir to rule over Equestria and look over the moon and sun.

-They use age reversing spells

This seems highly unethical for either of the ponies, because they would be doing the very thing Discord did. Again, why coronate Twilight when you can make yourself live forever?

-Or maybe they ARE immortal.

How would this be possible? The unicorns who made the moon and sun rise before Celestia and Luna weren't immortal- or were they? Maybe, along with their ability to bring day and night, Discord took away their immortality, but Celestia and Luna weren't affected, just as their magic wasn't.

Or, perhaps it had something to do with the Elements of Harmony? Maybe the elements granted Luna and Celestia immortality? But what would that mean for the Mane 6? Maybe this has something to with Twilight not outliving her friends. Maybe the Mane 6 are immortal because they are holders of the elements. Do you all remember how Celestia said she and Luna were no longer connected to the elements?
