So, I am now doing commissions for story cover art.
Basically, if you want me to do cover art for your story, you need to contact me via Skype. If you don't have Skype, that's fine- PM me. In your PM or message, you need to be as specific as humanly possible about what you want in your picture. Hair/mane styles, eye direction, everything you can think of. You can do a simple list or a bunch of paragraphs when you describe what you want your picture to look like. I will then simply sketch out a rough draft, and run it by you for approval. Once that's done, I can get to work on the outline of the picture, which is- of course -the outline of the character(s). Then I'll run said outline by you, ask if there's anything wrong with it that I can change due to the outline being made of line-art (editable lines).
Now I charge according to (and depending on), well, basically, image complexity and detail.
Complexity being how much is going on in the image. Like, how many characters are in the image? Where are they (background) {backgrounds are free, but optional! })? What is/are their gender(s)? What do they look like (for example(s)- eye and mane style)?
Detail is pretty much as the name goes. Detail.
Now with these two factors, we will talk out a reasonable price. Preferably after the rough draft is complete, approved, and shown to you. But we can talk it out in the beginning as well. This ensures that you'll get an idea of what you'll be getting in the finished product. Keep in mind that rough drafts typically look terrible, hence their name. They're really just something that's there to give you an idea of what you'll be getting (after you've approved it of course).
Note: Facial expressions are left for the outline approval and/or finished product, for it's time consuming to make them in the rough draft.
Now with the money that I might get, I'm planning on buying a tablet to draw on. Because currently I use a mouse, but I'm great with it. I'm better on pencil and paper, but I prefer digital imagery. You have a lot more control over your actions with a digital art program (I use PaintTool SAI, love it) than when you use pencil and paper. You also don't need to put your images through a scanner (which I do not have), and it's easy to upload it to a website such as Deviantart.
This system is heavily based on the client's approval. I'm aiming for satisfaction over all else.
I cannot, repeat, cannot guarantee a time frame in which you will get your image. I was thinking about a prioritization system, but I doubted that it would work out so I didn't mention it above.
And I am also starting school. Yeah. Going into grade nine, high school. Freshman. That will gravely effect my writing output (almost to a halt). I apologize in advance, but I will try to squeeze out chapters during the year. I tend to write more in the summer, albeit I don't write much overall, but you get my point (I hope).
So yeah. This is just what's going on with me, and I'm sorry that I didn't really get out chapters for any of my stories earlier- I was dealing with family stuff.
Have a good day guys.
He's doing one for me and yes: he does accept payment in installments in case you don't have it all at the same time.
And I must say he does pretty good work with the examples I've seen.
Damn. You're younger than me, yet you write more, and you write better. I'll mark this post down somewhere in case I ever need cover art done. Good luck on this.
