Blog Of A Cynic: Post Two

    Hello.
Well today has been... interesting. My friends have been constantly harassing my boyfriend and I constantly, you have to love them, but they have started taking bets on how long it will last between us. Fun, right? I have to wonder where their common decency has gone, at least they could bet not right in front of our faces, one of my friends even bet three hours.

    I Am A Cynic

In the depths of my heart I can't help being convinced that my dear fellow-men, with a few exceptions, are worthless.
    -Sigmund Freud

And this is why he is my idol instead of some stupid pop singer or someone like Amanda Todd, that though what happened to her was sad, she can hardly be considered a role model.

Blog Of A Cynic: Post One · 2:17am Aug 25th, 2013

Hello.
Even though this is a My Little Pony fan site, my blog is going to be on my angry cynical views on the world and everything that sadly lays inside it.
I guess this cynicism came from reading to many books on psychology, philosophy and ideology. Also my conversion of a strong Christian believer to a stronger agnostic Atheist a couple of years back. Something that my mom never has really accepted.
My cynicism is mainly on people and how today's society acts. I think this is because as a six year old I was reading William Shakespeare and watching Casablanca. I am not saying this made me any better than anyone who didn't I am simply just saying I grew up in a different background to others of my generation who have no tolerance for classic literature and films. This is about the third time I have lost all my progress due to the fact that I don't want my parents to see that I am ranting to the internet, they already said they would send me to a therapist if they found me ranting again, apparently my cynicism is unhealthy. Fun.

Now onto something I hate. Because this is what this blog is about, right? People who justify what the say as ironic to cover up the fact that they really think this but their friends, or family who knows, don't like this view. Or because they want to be like the people who act like this but because of the way they have acted in the past makes it nearly impossible to do anything like this.
I have a friend likes this.
I noticed it a few weeks after we discussed how I think hash-tags are overused and are completely annoying, oh and before we get into this blog. I. Am. Not. A. Hipster. I do not hate all things that are mainstream, but I do hate most due to the fact that I am a hating cynic. I would not like to live in the past either or be retro because truth be told, I think that ever since humans have evolved from apes we have been a pathetic race. just my thoughts, I know sad but someone has to think like this.
She then started saying thinks with a ironic hash-tag in front of them, and at first I thought she really was just being ironic and funny but then as she started to be a hypocrite and a hipster, I realized that she may actually be using irony to hide behind. She is still an awesome friend, but how long till she changes I do not know, but I fear the day it comes.

Now. Swag.
This will possibly get a lot of hate, but who really cares, you do not have swag. Unless you have an ornamental festoon of flowers, fruit, and greenery. Or you arrange in a decorative manner, and trust me wearing your pants down low and your snapback backwards does not back you cool. It makes you look like you are to incompetent to even dress yourself. *Smiles condescendingly* Apparently I have a way of talking down to some people with a condescending manner. Isn't that nice? I think so. I joke, I don't even realize I am doing it.
But I do know people get really annoyed at me for telling them the true definition of the words that they are using, it seems quite strange. Maybe this is just the dictionary lover in me that doesn't understand it.
Faggot: A bundle of sticks and/or twigs, a person who votes for a party purpose and entrails.
Fag: To grow weary or tired.
So you're (and sadly how people write your before it) a fag translates to you're a to grow weary or tired. That doesn't sound stupid at all, am I just being a snob now? Because apparently I am that too.

Hipsters.
These people who are basically hippies in the modern day world, sure we still have hippies but they aren't exactly a big label anymore and are probably less socially acceptable in the age of Woodstock, not judging Woodstock though, they had some good music at that event.
Here is the dictionary and urban dictionary definition of the word hipster:
Dictionary: A person who follows the latest trends and fashions. Wow, but I thought hipsters were about being away from mainstream, stupid hipsters.
Urban Dictionary: Definitions are too mainstream.
Hipster's can't be defined because then they'd fit in a category, and thus be too mainstream.
But also about independent thinkers a fan of philosophy and ideology, making me a hipster, fun.
Wow. So why do we have these stupid people who think that being non-mainstream is cool and that by doing what society doesn't what us to do is right because that is mainstream?
So does this mean that rapists and murderers are hipster because the government creates laws that people have to live by? And that hipsters are now ok? Yeah I don't think this segment is going to end well so I am going to cut it short.

And now for something quite different.
How people perceive poets and poems in this day and age at my age.
I remember only a couple of days my friend said he hates poems, and I, loving poems, asked why. He started going on about how stupid it is, and sometimes the rhymes are stupid and how haiku's are silly. This caused me to rage quit my economics class, good thing we had a substitute teacher that day.
Poems to me is not about rhyming it is expressing ones thoughts of the world in a poetic verse, describing the world and poems/ ballads such as The Lady of Shallot that entertain and make us feel things at the same time. I told him this poem and he instantly changed his view on them, also along with some of Edgar Allen Poe's work.
I am frustrated by today's stupidity and ignorance. Poems are not like songs, thank you very much miss hypocrite, hipster friend. Because most songs these days, no matter what genre have turned to a whole load of bullshit anyway, just listen to Nicki Minaj's Stupid Hoe and you will understand why. Poems are meant to be about deep emotion and most of the time suffering. GOD!
Read this:
PART I

On either side the river lie
Long fields of barley and of rye,
That clothe the wold and meet the sky;
And thro' the field the road runs by
To many-tower'd Camelot;
And up and down the people go,
Gazing where the lilies blow
Round an island there below,
The island of Shalott.

Willows whiten, aspens quiver,
Little breezes dusk and shiver
Thro' the wave that runs for ever
By the island in the river
Flowing down to Camelot.
Four gray walls, and four gray towers,
Overlook a space of flowers,
And the silent isle imbowers
The Lady of Shalott.

By the margin, willow-veil'd
Slide the heavy barges trail'd
By slow horses; and unhail'd
The shallop flitteth silken-sail'd
Skimming down to Camelot:
But who hath seen her wave her hand?
Or at the casement seen her stand?
Or is she known in all the land,
The Lady of Shalott?

Only reapers, reaping early
In among the bearded barley,
Hear a song that echoes cheerly
From the river winding clearly,
Down to tower'd Camelot:
And by the moon the reaper weary,
Piling sheaves in uplands airy,
Listening, whispers "'Tis the fairy
Lady of Shalott".

Amazing right? Lord Alfred Tennyson for you, brilliant as usual, wish to read the rest just go here: http://www.online-literature.com/donne/720/
