Lyra's Fantasy

This poem was originally written for Silly Filly Con's 30 minute writing contest two years ago. It got me an Honorable Mention and a Chrysalis wristband. Since I just found the bit of paper it was written on and I'd rather not lose it, but it's far too short for a Fimfiction story, I'm saving it here as a blog post. The theme was "Human In Equestria."

Lyra had long longed for ten little things,
but that's not the path the filly's life took.
Only in her dreams did she meet earthlings -
until she found that magical book
As she poured through it, the minty mare shook;
Monsters and myths filled old-dog eared pages
In merely moments, the 'uni was hooked;
its spells could free her from her hooves' cages
Bon-Bon and Carrot Top rolled up mages;
Lyra made a bard, with tricks in her hands
They defied dark gods, and all the sages,
and became saviors of forgotten lands.
For although a unicorn she may be,
Lyra's always human in D&D.
