Woo! Batmare is back with a vengeance! I know that means I'm juggling two stories, at the moment, but I think that's a good thing. When I feel like taking a break from the serious stuff, I can switch to Batmare; when I'm ready to get serious again, I'll go back to ItFoaG. I'll try to keep the updates coming at least once a week from now on. I know I disappeared for a while there, sorry!
Oh, and to let everyone know. Footsteps does have a specific story arc and structure, including an ending, so it won't go on forever.
Batmare, however, will be run a bit differently. I've decided to split it into 'Seasons'. Each season will have a specific antagonist and overlying story arc, under which will be a lot of flexibility. So for instance, in season one, Celestia was the antagonist as 'Jokemare' and the overlying arc was her conflict with Batmare. For season two, our antagonist is obviously Discord, who he uses, however, is flexible and subject to change. This gives me a lot of freedom to implement fan ideas into the series. If you leave a comment with a villain suggestion, don't be surprised to see it used! (Eventually.)

how about Iron Will as a minor villan like Bane? but for Discord, he would be perfect as the Riddler.

I should have stated from the start who I don't have ideas for. I still need something for Applejack and Rainbow Dash, maybe the CMC's too? Fluttershy, Rarity, Twilight and Pinkie all have a persona, as do Trixie, the princess's and Zecora. Pip and Spike kind of do their own thing.
Well, I have the idea for Braeburn as Shame because Shame was a western type villan. R.I.P. Mr. Robertson, You were an awesome Uncle Ben and a great Shame ! you could add other heroes for a chapter or two like Luna works with Applejack in a World's Finest team up.
and Rainbow could be the Flash, Scootaloo could be Kid Flash, Applebloom could be Super-filly. as for Sweetie Belle, well let's just say that she could be Aquaman as portrayed in Batman the Brave and the Bold. 
A singing Aquaman or in this case, Aqua-filly.

I'm trying to make everypony a bad guy, but that may be too difficult. Maybe a few more heroes would help... but that's your idea, and you're writing a Bat-fic too. I'd hate to use it if you were going to.
(By the way, how's the first chapter coming along? I'm dying to read it!)
it's going great, im actually putting the entire movie into one chapter. and i have gotten to the part where batman and robin investigate the buoy. It's ok, im not going to use those ideas., so feel free to use those ideas
