All right. That's it. I've read one too many grimdark/sad fics. I can't take it anymore. There's only one thing to do in a situation like this...
I've got to write something funny. So I will. The basic idea I have now is a parody on shipfics, involving Big Macintosh. Should be moderately entertaining. As a result, I'm putting Razor's Edge on hold, just for a moment.
Besides, I need to do some research for that. Based on what I've seen (discounting anachronisms like turntables and nightclubs) MLP seems to be set in a pre-Victorian era. I'd say mid-to-late 1800s. At that point, the main weapons were flintlock firearms, but something tells me horses wouldn't have access to those. So, in an attempt to make the tactics in my battle scene as realistic as possible, I ned to do some research on the heavy cavalry based tactics used by the Persians, Byzantines and Mongols, and maybe the heavy infantry tactics of the Greeks while I'm at it.
Why am I talking about my grimdark warfic? I said I was focusing on something funny! Forget what I just said. Let's see how my parody turns out.
