Recently I was asked to be a contributor to the site moviepilot.com. It's a pretty typical site for learning about upcoming movies and TV shows and ones that are already out. My first post for them is up now for everyone to read! ^_^
There Should Be Only Three or Why the Highlander Reboot Should Be a Trilogy
No. There is something about this film that cannot allow it to be remade.
For a start, There can be only one. Okay, four and a TV series, but they will never capture it the same way the originals did!
Now get back to writing!
1185482 I know they can never catch the magic of the original. I'm saying that if they're going to make a reboot (and most sources say that's the plan), this is how it should be done. Personally, I hope it doesn't happen, but this is Hollywood we're talking about. I just learned that the Ninja Turtles movie has character actor great William Fichtner (the scene stealing Accountant in Drive Angry) is going to be playing Shredder! It's as though Michael Bay wants to just shit all over my childhood!
1185482 I would also like to point out that there were 4 sequels in total, and the last butt fucked it even worse than Highlander 2. I also here the anime movie isn't too bad. There was also a cartoon and live action spinoff to the show. So yeah, there's hardly been one. lol
1185497 Well, at least there will be lots of explosions!!
1185500 4? Highlander, Highlander 2: The Quickening, Highlander 3: The Sorcerer, Highlander: Endgame.
What was the fifth? Never saw the anime or tv show myself. Will have to look out for them.
1185505 The fifth is called Highlander: The Source. It starred Adrian Paul from the show and was a made for TV SyFy film (so that alone should tell you the quality). It goes against everything the original stood for even more than the other movies (and to top it off it awful covers of Queen songs). The animated series wasn't an anime, it was a French Canadian produced show in the 90's. The anime movie came out in 2007 and was Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, but it did of course focus on a MacLeod (this one being called Colin). I hear it's not too bad and like a good Highlander story keeps it simple. I haven't seen the Source all the way through, I saw a review of it by Spoony and that was enough to show me it was god awful. I've also never seen the live action TV show, but was well aware of it during my childhood before I came across the original film. There was also a shitty video game for the Atari Jaguar (also reviewed by Spoony).
1185528 Oh, that one. Not sure if I've seen that one.
